Yes sir,

4.88’s. This truck is going to be SOOOO much happier. I haven’t told you the fun part. Remember when we talked about proper break in procedure for new gears?

I have to drive exactly 2 hours to drop my truck off for the gear change so guess what I have to do when I pick my truck up and drive home. LOL, i’ll have to take my time ALL the way home and follow proper break in procedure.. and i cant skip the cool down.

Its going to be fun.

Since I’m using nitro gears I’m going to follow their break in procedure and here it is.

https://www.nitro-gear.com/category-s/181.htm

Also,

I want to say that when Burla, Hemi, RLK and I went to HTC forum we SERIOUSLY we’re looking for a friendly place to start another oil discussion AND share the experience EVERYONE has had on this thread. At the time the oil thread in this forum was completely falling apart and we weren’t sure it was going to come back.

At HTC We were greeted in a way that ahowes we were not welcome. Simple as that.....and we left promptly.

Anyone that thinks Burla was the problem. Step back and take a look at the history of this thread and reconsider your thought. Butla simply stands up for what we have done together and what he believes. Not a thing wrong with that when what we have done here is being threatened by some.

Om done. I will not talk about this ANYMORE...

This thread has been GREAT lately with lots of new faces that have contributed a lot. Lets keep it up.

Damn well said Sir ! Damn well said for sure ...!!!

This thread was a **** show when there were a few idiots here .... lately they've been gone and it's been nice without the bickering and such !

Seems we have a couple new idiots trying to run this thread into the ground again ?

Just look at who is [emoji1303] liking the post of the idiots ....
Pretty easy for me to determine the new small group to put on my ignor list ... For me tis works out well ..maybe others should try it [emoji23]

Good point.....

I ran the **** out of my hemi right off the lot and during the test drive before because I believe in heartbreak and for engines.

But to be fair OEM gears are Generally cut with different tools ( compared to aftermarket small companies) and also don’t have the black phosphate coating on them like aftermarket ones. A lot of the break in has to do with etching in the phosphate in correctly while not getting it to hot.

Here is an input Quill assy / pinion I removed a couple days ago for a sprag clutch inspection , I reinstalled it today .

Yup that ignore list is what has kept me here!
I have no time for the Dr Phil / Oprah $hit!

I’m sure my nick is on many members list as well!
That’s fine: I pride myself on being different & not thinking & doing as others!

How would we ever figure out what works & what don’t?

The only thing I know about setting up a differential is there is a technique to it and the pinion depth needs to be set and the ring gear is shimmed from sided to side. I know enough not to mess with it, let a professional do it.

Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
Setting up a simple ring and pinion set is very simple gentalmen ... basically you shim accordingly for the required backlash which typically is .006-.012" .
Having a bit of experience with this kinda stuff AND proper tooling and measuring equipment is Paramount imho!

I love all 3 processes

Stick is for hard ass men welding in the middle of nowhere off of engine drive welders.

Mig is for getting it out the door fast

Tig is a perfect art.

If I am not mistaken, smoothie was looking for some specific information and searched and came up with too many posts to sift through. At least that's how I interpreted it.

What's the break in process for a heli?
Actually there's no break-in period for a new purchase BELL Helicopter ...as each component within the drivetrain during initial buildup is put through a torcher test ...if you will .... basically via a very spacific manufacturing processes ( per the FAA & 9100 processing specs ) every component undergoes tremendous over TQ % testing requirements of sometimes 240++% of Maximum allowed .
In a nutshell the new owner must comply with the allowed flight parameters prescribed within the flight manual , which typically are normal pilot guidelines for min / Max allowable % of TQ pressure and such ....well there's many parameters within the flight manual [emoji1303]

So just fly it like you stole it from the beginning [emoji1303]

Yeah warranty on a heli that's funny, when something breaks you aint gonna just drift to the side of the road.

Our warranty is 1000 flight hours or a year ... , We have several warranty plans that expand to up to 2years , our warranty is a VERY damn good one for the helicopter industry imo !
I travel a bit with my job , both nationally and internationally for warranty type work .

Most pilots are highly trained ...ha ha I said most !
My job takes me places where the pilot sometimes is just the guy who hasn't killed anyone yet in one of his crashes ....well that is extreme .

Typically if a well trained pilot was to have an engine failure , he could land the helicopter without passengers knowing it ....provided he had the required altitude upon the failure ...

Headed to bed now...

That reminds me of when I was in the navy, I was a jet engine mechanic and we were off the coast of nam and we had this hanger deck queen in need of a fuel control. We also had this plane onboard that had taken an unfortunate swim and the maintenance officer wanted me to take the fuel control off of it and install it on the queen. We had a little meeting of the minds and I said, look, there's no guarantee that some salt water didn't seep by one of those 10/15 seals that supposedly seal all the linkage shafts. Now you get that thing up to 10/15 thousand feet and it decides to **** up it just ain't gonna be pull over to the side and call AAA. Begrudgingly he seen my side and we didn't do it.
