How's it going guys! Well my brain is officially fries with all this good info and trying to read all the info at once haha. I'm about to hit 2k on my 15 hemi with mds and sounds like some are using a throw away oil for their "first" oil change then after that possibly switching over to a good brand such as amsoil redline mobile one. Hard decisions if ya ask me! I'm torn between redline amsoil and pens oil lol. I used amsoil in my diesels for years and never a problem but it does get old having to always order it and wait lol. Great info from everyone on here! Can't thank you enough for all the knowledge I have gained!

So as I posted over in an exhaust manifold post. I am having this happen and I don't know if it is engine or if it is exhaust manifold issue. Listen and tell me what you think. The aftermarket warranty wanted oil change records I produced my records and the mileage, date and type of oil I used each time and of course they are denying my claim saying I don't have sufficient records to have the lifters they think might be the noise replaced. What do you think?

This is with 0W-20 Pennzoil Platinum in there and a NAPA platinum filter.

That sounds like an exhaust leak to me...

Me too but the dealer I went to won't listen to me. I am going to try another. I think I am going to do an oil change since I am at 4000 something and then see how it sounds if it sound no different with PYB I think it will confirm exhaust as it sounds just like my passenger side did.

That sounds a lot different then mine, which turned out to be lifter tick I'm sure since oil solved it. I wouldn't be surprised if it was exhaust leak. Did you take some mist and spray the exhaust manifold to see if it's blowing?

I'll try that it only does it when cold for about a minute then stops. My thought was the exhaust manifold was warming up and then the leak was much smaller so it gets quiet. If it is oil based my issue belongs in here if not than sorry dudes for the derail. I'll see what I find out with oil change.

It's exactly what my passenger-side exhaust problem sounded like. The dealership replaced the bolts on that side and the sound went away.

In theory its a great oil but it doesnt have the api doughnut or starburst on the back it it says meets or exceeds api sl lol so those still under warranty might not use it. I doubt anyone will poison their cats but it does have higher zddp than current sm/sn spec.
For comparison:
SL is limited to 1000 ppm max phosphorous.
SM is limited to 600 ppm min/800 ppm max phosphorous.

Just dropped in 7 qts of Pennzoil Platinum Ultra with the RP filter. Quiet and smooth. I think she likes it.

Well I was going to do an oil change with Redline and do a oil analysis on my PYB. But I just found what appears to be my oil pan leaking. It's not bad but its constantly wet with oil. I cleaned it all off with carb cleaner a week ago and its damp again. So to the dealer it goes.

I'm sure they'll have to drop the oil and put new PYB in. I'll probably run that for 200 miles or so and consider that a flush. Then put my Redline in and hopefully watch my tick go away...

I have my truck in for the second time from an oil leak. It has a drip from the oil filter area, and leaks enough that after driving a few miles it leaves a spot the size of a baseball. The first time the dealer said the filter was leaking, and it was due for a change anyway so they just changed the oil and filter and put in the Pennzoil Platinum. The filter they took off was a Royal Purple filter. Anyone else having trouble with the filter are leaking?

Hemi395did you have a RP filter as well? Part number 10-48. I know they changed that for your years. That would suck hard if this is an issue. I wouldn't mess around if it happened again, I'd just go to Amsoil Filters.

I'd post a question over on BITOG and ask them if any 2013-15 Hemi's are having leak problems with RP filters. You will get more answers over there, RP filters are very popular.

Yes I have that RP filter waiting to go on. The OEM Mopar filter is on there now and it is totally dry. My leak is on the drivers side by the oil pan...

Cool for RP filters, not cool for you. Hope you solve it without too much pain.

Dealer just called. They say the filter was just loose. 1700 miles since the "leaking" RP filter was changed. The loose filter is a MOPAR filter the dealer put on. They say they cleaned the filter area thoroughly and tested it and now no leaks. Seems odd to have the same problem with 2 different filters. Obviously now I have to closely check where I park to see if I get any more oil dripping.

I think this is a thing. A few guys have had this and only with the newer rams, I'd post a question in the forum for the fix. I'd bet it might happen again.

Just ask the question in the title, Leaky oil Filters Anyone?

Has anyone run the SRT oil filter 05038041AA? Supposed to have a stronger can, better(synthetic?)media, and higher relief pressure.

You have the same filter I think as the 5.7, part number 10-48 if you wanted to try Royal Purple filters. Same thing, good flow, heavy can, synthetic media.
