No worries , I'm glad you brought this up as I plan on changing my coolant this Summer .
Why did you change your thermostat ?
What is the stock T-stat temp range ?

The stock tstat is 203*. That in itself imo is too hot. Not only that, I've noticed it's been creeping up to 214* before the tstat opens so I'm thinking it was starting to go bad anyway. They make 180* tstats that you can get from Moe's but that's a little too cool for living in New England imo so I compromised and got a 190* tstat. I figure its better for towing my camper also.

I had planned on doing a couple radiator drain and fills with the purple OAT coolant as a poor man's flush. I figured my trucks 5 years old now and the 10 year OAT coolant is half spent. Then I saw it was pink/orange coming out and the new oat coolant was purple...

Our oil supplier has antifreeze and oil sample kits available to me. They take care of the testing for me Sorry it took so long to get back to you R.I.K. This was a huge question for me when I switched antifreeze. But so far after a year I have had no problem with the oat coolant.

I wouldn't. Some of those throttle bodies have a coating on them that carb and brake cleaner eat. I would just get the TB cleaner and be safe

Sorry , hard to keep all you guys straight. That's should have HOAT coolant in it.

Check this video out:

So don't mix! Which coolant do you think you have? I'd flush it and go back with hoat if I was you.

Just in case anyone missed this over on Hemi's coolant thread . My wife's challengers coolant was Orange while cold about 40° outside , I went for a drive ..got the coolant to 217° and watched the t-stat open 3 times checked it when I got home and it was freaking purple !!!!
Unbelievable

I bet in a few hours or tomorrow morning it will be Orange again ??8c4e6bdd9844a4e095a71258eddc8bda.jpg32c484a128af2da906b9993f4767176a.jpg4c4ef9f8ad6f6a6e190ec281acb1711d.jpg852afa9b53af57e3b9b7eea5b60f026f.jpgac0e23522e354d82f508ce978473d39b.jpg

Guess this means you shouldn't run hoat OR oat...

Sent from my magic 5-inch

I would actually prefer OAT.

IMO its hard to beat a 10 year (ill never hit the milage) coolant. I can drain it at 5-or 7 years (whatever) and know damb well it is ok. Ill pay the extra money for that. I just want to be sure I currently have OAT. Once you know you are golden...... ;)

Or orangeish/red..... or purple. LoL.

Couldn’t resist the joke.

Will roll 8k on this oil this week so it looks like its time to send Nick a p.m. and get Blackstone to send me a test kit.
Should be able to pull in my shop to change it as well, man thats a nice feeling to be allmost all moved in and done.

Think I am going with 4 quarts of 10w30 and 3 quarts of 5w30 Redline and a Royal Purple filter 20-820.
I am also going to get a filter magnet and some RL fuel cleaner.

Interesting article from the SAE on Chrysler's decision to switch to OAT. Definitely covers the color questions.
Good article .
The beginning paragraphs of this artical is mostly why I've chosen to change my 10 year OAT formulated coolant at 5 years of service ...
Sir , you should post this in Hemi395's thread on this subject .
