Didn't mean to get Nick involved in this conversation under that context. It's just that Amazon and Walmart don't actually have the stuff in-stock, it's just drop shipped from someone that they have connections with, and some of them I've never heard of.

Today's fun project... water pump started leaking on my Yukon. This is the second one I've put on in 240k miles. This one lasted 8 yrs, 4 months and 106k miles according to my records. Not too shabby if you ask me.

Of course, its getting all new hoses, belts, water pump, thermostat, reservoir, tensioners, idlers, etc. Good for another 100k.

Yup, old trusty. Love it. She's got a light bottom end knock when starting cold but goes away after a minute or so. Always ran 5w-30 SS. Im debating possibly trying 0w-40 SS and maybe a can of MOS2. Surprisingly, it has very little lifter noise and they've never been touched. Opinions?

HaHa! LOL!! You know that ain't happening. I wouldn't be mad if it ate it's own ass tomorrow. 16 years and 240k worth of trouble-free miles.Other than intake, exhaust manifold, and valve cover gaskets, it's never been opened up. Can't be mad about that.

My grandpa just traded his 2000 Burb off with alittle over 300k on the clock and I kid you not you could have swapped the odometer for one with 50k or less and never thought different.
Motor was quiet shoot the hole thing was tight, 92 year old man driving it and had the maintenance done and the G.M dealer everytime.

If it were me, I'd mix in some 0w40 maybe half 0w40 half 5w30. SS 5w30 is on the thinner side of the 30wt spectrum so some 0w40 might quiet it up on cold starts.

Yep my old 97 Dodge 4×4 I traded in on my 14 Ram was 17 years old and nearly 300k , never opened up ; however , I did install a few water pumps on it . The last water pump I installed only took about 2.5 hrs ... practice makes perfect I guess[emoji106]

I may just try that. I'm really curious on the MOS2. I've had it for over a year and never used it. I think I just talked myself into it.

My Chevy work van has a 4.8L in it and it runs so smooth and quiet compared to my Hemi. No lifter tick, no piston slap on startup, no knocking, nothing. Just a nice smooth running engine. Not much power at all tho...

I hear ya , that last wp i was in a pinch , as it was my sole transportation at the time because I had my motorcycle torn apart in my shop performing heavy maintenance.

Did that truck have Redline for any of its life?

Four out of my five are FMC right now, so I'm not worried about it. Next will be an oil change on the Yuk, then oil change in the wife's Atlas. We also just bought my oldest daughter her first car and it needs new struts and of course I'll change the oil over to the good stuff. It's a '10 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. Timing belt is close to due too, so another water pump/cooling system job while I'm in there. I just did that job on my WRX last year, so still kinda fresh.
