With how hard PUP seems to be to obtain (at least in my neck of the woods), Id just rather suck it up and buy Redline online. Maybe a BIT more expensive than the equivalent PUP, but it seems pretty proven to be a great oil for the Hemi.

I *can* get Mobil 1 0W-40 easily, but the latest VOA I could find shows 71 for moly....seems low, unless there is something to the whole "tri nuclear moly can work at lower levels" thing.

Then we need to stop trying to convince the ones that won't listen. Bottom line Burla is right. In our case the manufacture could never void warranty from an engine failure or the like from using redline.

M1 0w40 is one of the best oils ever made, and now add 0w40 Castrol and PUP 0w40 to what M1 started, a super class of oils. Too much to explain on this, but these oils where made to give great film but yet flowability. To meet ever demanding specs, they use their best base oils and yet charge the same. The **** sucking CAFE standards has destroyed lubrication policies. Totally annihilated what guys should be using to keep their equipment running long term. And to make it worse, they take out most of the lubricity additives line zinc or sulfur as well. Force guys to use thin oil with no lubricity, so ridiculous. Why would we let Barrack Obama and his type pick our oils is beyond me. Resist everything they are trying to do to us however you can.

Fine. In will use Redline 5w30 next time. Screw the warrenty....!

Yea, I highly doubt the warrenty would be voided from using Redline 5w30. Here is the other side of that. It's a superior oil. All the information on this thread proves it. Guys have been running it with no problems for a long while and in fact with that said you could most likely expect no issues from using it. Plus all I have to do is keep the truck for 245,000 more miles and I get a new one. Yes, in 6 weeks I put 5000mi on my truck.

Does it still apply for the current M1 0W-40 formulation? (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mobil-1-0W-40-Advanced-Full-Synthetic-Motor-Oil-5-qt/23636902)

Because that IS one I can still get locally, at least for now.

Thanks!

I think Ill start with the Mobil 1 0W-40 because I can get it locally (I keep harping on the local thing....with wife/kids/school/job, I cant always plan ahead and make sure an online-only produc is ready to go at my house whenever I happen to find time to work on something!).

There happens to be a 12.00 off 5 qt. rebate going until 10/31/17...5 qts of Mobil 1 for 25.47-12.00? Sign me up.

Read this one, porsche factory fill m1 0w40, same as Corvettes and 70 other vehicles. They know stuff we could only hope to know. And since the 40 weights are not held to the same standard as far as lubricity additives, it also shows you how important this stuff is that literally every super car builder uses. Yes maybe moly could be higher, but calcium and zinc are up, and likely has pao in the base to meet some of the specs like Castrol does. Look at Castrol Edge 0w40 on the walmart shelf, that is reported to be 60% pao.

That oil looks fantastic

EDIT:

In fact. I think since im dropping amsoil for my wifes explorer im going to use that ( in the E.P. Version) instead if castrol edge. Only because it is on most shelves.

Subjust to change at any second. :roflsquared:

Is anyone running 7 Qts of PUP 0/40 In their 5.7? No extra additives just straight oil.

I have ran 40 wt oil ....a mixture of REDLINE 30 & 40 wt , that BLACKSTONE LABS SAID it was consistent as a straight up 40 wt as a 12.75 cst ...? ( If I remember correctly ...?? )

I had ZERO issues ...!! With MDS. .. NO codes. And. My mpg. Actually increased ...+++ I had no noticable delays in throttle response. .
My experience....

Oboma has never changed his own oil ....in fact , I'd bet a months salary he could not tell you what type or grade oil is is any of his 10 + vehicles ..... He is an idiot. When it comes to normal stuff and common sense.....other than that he is a very intelligent individual .... But still a borderline Retard when it comes to normal everyday type situations....just my humble opinion....
