Transmission upgrades??? Maybe

Sooo...i got a quote today on getting some upgrades done to my 07 RAM QC 3.7 transmission.... Seriously considering doing a shift kit and a heavy duty cooler upgrade.....any thoughts?

I would probably just do a cooler if your looking for something to do. I wouldn't pay anyone to do them though, don't think its worth the expense.

What trans do you have? RFE or 42RLE? Lotsa **** you can do to the RFE, but the 42RLE is rwd/4wd trans derived from a fwd transaxle and it sucks. If you have the RLE I definitely recommend a good/better cooler, as these buggers like to implode if they get too hot (and it's easy to do). Haven't heard much from Ram owners about it but happens in the older Jeeps a lot.

skip the shift kit, take that money and put it towards a superchips tuner and purchase the trans tuning.. Once you get the trans tune configured the way you like it, the truck will drive so much better and have firmer shifts.

This only works for the RFE (like you have). No go for the RLE. I think the shift kit is probably your only option. Does the Superchips even work for the 3.7? Might be stuck with Hypertech on that one...

Superchips doesnt offer anything for the 3.7... Hypertech is the only thing so far that i have seen and even then they don't even touch the tranny...
