Well I bought a 2017 tradesmen 1500 ram pickup. Got a great price the only problem is I want to upgrade my door locks and windows to electric ones and a fob key to open and close. I did check on the electrical distribution box and there is a plug for a fuse that goes to the door here's a couple questions I would like to find out before I start this program of rebuilding the door locks and the windows to electric.

Has anybody have done this

Is electrical stuff plug-and-play. I do not have no problem rewiring the doors.

I plan on going to the wrecking yards and start my search this year.

I'm going to put a budget of $600 if I can keep in underneath that I'm not doing

I don't know the answer to your question but it may be helpful to know that the doors on reg cab trucks are unique compared to quad or crew cab and you did not mention which you have. You will need the carrier assembly and the interior panels in addition to the mechanisms.

It would be pretty impressive if you could make it happen for only 600 bucks.

It can definitely be done. It’ll be easiest to find a wrecked truck, and get all the interior door parts- panels, switches, motors, actuators, carrier plates, door modules, and wiring. Then it’s just a matter of seeing what wires are missing from the BCM to the door jamb connectors and populating them. You’ll need AlfaOBD to enable all the power window functions, enable remote keyless entry, and for programming the new fobs.

That goes to pin 2 on the door switch and supplies ignition on power to it.

Jimmy07 - the connector is the Green Connector from the body side drivers front Reg Cab. I am pulling wires from a 14 CC Sport Cab Harness and adding into my 14 Reg Cab ST. The PK/YL Wire ( Fused Ignition Run/Accessory Control Output) comes from blue TIPM Connector to the Green Door Body Side ( Inline-Body/Door Front Left) position 1 - What i cant figure out is what it does there, or if it is just for future use? The Power Door Harness that i have has the 2 green 2 grey wires ( windows and Antenna wires ) and no pink yellow wire in it. The pink yellow wire is twinned at the drivers foot well and runs to a rear cab connector - Mind the picture- it says red, but its the pink yellow wire ( was losing the plot a bit that day :) )20200714_100517.jpg20200716_121725.jpg20200716_121937.jpg20200716_134351.jpgPk Yl Wire to Rear Cab.jpg

I didn’t see you had a 2014, so there’s two spots that wire goes to on the window switch connector. This is the door harness side, with the arrow pointing at the position that the wire needs to be added- uiS1GvR.jpg7F7Utj1.jpg
Then, it splits off and gets inserted into positions 1 and 8 of the C2 window switch connector, which is one of the two connectors that plugs into the master door switch- t36oJip.jpg

Thank you Jimmy07 - Why would the door harness i bought from the wreckers ( 2016 REG Cab Sport w/ Power locks window and keyless entry, not have that already there? Or did they sell me the wrong one?

Not sure...wrong one probably. Does the door harness they sold you have the two connectors on it that plug into the window switch? They look like this- 0cMZfy2.jpgZa6Yg1M.jpg

Scratch all that. You threw me for a loop because you have a 2016 reg cab door harness. You should have only one connector that plugs into the door switch that has only 3 wires. Looks like this- y3OSYW1.jpg
The switch changed in 2016 for the reg cab, and that yellow/pink wire is not used, so ignore it. You need to make sure you use a 2016+ regular cab door switch.

Hey Jimmy07, below is the harness i have. The wreckers are telling me the CC trucks have the pk/yl wire and the reg cabs do not....
Part of my issue is i am robbing from a CC harness to fill the runs in a RC. Im unsure of the actual wiring for the 2014 RC, might have to break down and get the tech authority diagrams ( which looking at diagrams makes my head hurt....hahahaha) im much better with pictures and regular beatings :)DD Harness.jpg

LOL...now my head is starting to hurt. So, you have a 2014 regular cab. You have a door harness from a 2016 regular cab loaded with power locks and windows. As far as the door side of things is concerned, that should be a direct swap and done. What wires are you taking from a crew cab harness, what crew cab harness, and where are you putting those wires?

LOL....yeah.... my brain is warping.. i did start a thread under the DIY section as Mike Grimm recommended i should.

Yes- 14 Reg Cab ST ( totally plain jane manual everything) - Donor dash ( swapping the pad). Doing complete sport swap and adding all the options. Scrounged parts from various places.

The CC harness is from a 14 Sport- All the seat wiring was pretty simple.... added that and moved on to the doors and ran across the PK/YL wire and went.....HMNNNNNnnn where does that go, why isn't it on the other side... wth....

Ok gotcha. As far as your door harness you bought, that should be all you need. Just plug it all in. No PK/YL wire needed.

Coming from My original body harness was only 2 wires, the violet ones. Pin 7 and 10.
I added the green ones pin 4 & 11 that run to the RF hub im thinking... as they go to it then back around and over the the passenger door.
I will need to add the grey as I believe they are from the rf antenna for keyless entry?
I need to get the actual schematic for my truck to know what the 2 viloet wires are for... in the door panel, they appear to go to the mirror... which is neither power switch or heated fold
