Yesterday I got in 2012 ram after a heavy rain and there was some water on the back passenger headrest. when I crawled back there to look there was a wet spot on the headliner right where it meets the back glass. This is the only time I have seen this happen and there was no exterior damage or obvious signs of where water could be leaking through. Any ideas?

I've never had the problem, but I've seen on here where a lot of owners have had issues with the 3rd brake light leaking.

High stop lamp and sun roof are usually the culprit. I ended up sealing the sun roof on my Mega Cab permanently with clear silicone.

A friend of mine had the same issue. He pulled 3rd brake light, put a bead of clear silicone calk all around gasket and it solved the issue. Common problem from what he told me but knock on wood, mine hasn't leaked yet. Doesn't have to be a heavy bead but if any oozes out after you re-install be sure to clean it up before it dries.

I didn't think about the sunroof, I will def be looking at both the third brake light and the sunroof as soon as it dries up

Same 2012 here but no sunroof.
Happened to me last Sunday during afternoon heavy rain(Florida weather).
Good thing my daughter setting behind me notice it, she grab towels to prevent it going to the floor. Leak continues, both side near the seatbelt, I thought coming from the edge of glass.
Culprit is, the gasket sealant of 3rd brake/bed light is already bad. Also a common issue not only in dodge RAM.
I replaced it using weatherstrip tape(close cell foam), a left over from my other project. Wipe clean 1st both side using isopropyl alcohol.
Don't use a caulk that hardly remove during bulb replacement.
