I figure 5w20 synthetic will be most popular, but maybe I'm wrong.

I will be using 5w-20 syn when I change my oil. Haven't had it long enough to change it yet but that's what used in my '11 Jeep GC with a Hemi.

Redline 5W-30, Royal Purple filter....every 4k mi.
If you are truly curious and want to know why, go to the 4th Gen, Engine and Performance portion of this forum and select Synthetic Oil thread...you will see why.
Look at all the used oil analysis’s in there or post a “Why?”
Or you can research any thread with Cam or lifter failure/replacement....

RL 5W30 or 0W40 if I have spare 0W40. Case of Edge 0W40 A3/B4 w/Lubeguard and whatever spare RL 0W40 quarts I have as cheap alternative. RP 20-820 filters and the SRT filter in a pinch.

Next oil change will be Redline 5w30 with a Royal Purple 20-820 oil filter.

I figure 5w20 synthetic will be most popular, but maybe I'm wrong.

It was the last time we did a poll. I'd say it is somewhere close to 50/50 but the disinformation that 20 weight is required for mds has a real effect on people. I'm not judging, I was one of them till everyone else started running 30 weight with no issues, and now we have guys running 40 weight with no issues. I'm still not that brave, so 30 weight is good enough for me. So many cams and lifters being wiped out, almost always on 20 weight oil. I don't know if it makes a difference, you need multiple uoa's on engines with about 50k miles that used both weights and maybe went back and forth 20 to 30 to 20 with uoa's all the way through to be able to see if there is a difference. So basically just do a little research and develop a strategy and don't look for verification because it is an individual thing and both strategies are valid. But historically 30 weight has been considered a thin oil. Maybe someone on the fence, consider 0w30, those will likely be thinner 30 weights.

Ronnie might know, as far as I know they are all gone, but I think he was able to get some. I believe the 10-48 can still be got on amazon. If I couldn't get the 20-820 I'd use the 10-48 no problem.

We have been checking production dates, the guys who have been buying cases production dates range from 2015 to may of 2018, so it looks like old stock is all that is available. The 2018's are nice because they are cheese grated design so great flow, I was happy to get those. But the older stock will still be great imo. We haven't had anything made after may 2018 for the hemi filter. My trans filter has a date of 2017. If anyone sees a production date later then may 2018 for rp filters please inform syn thread.

opps looks like maybe the 10-48 cases were sold as well. Man they had a bunch left, someone must have bought a bunch.

Hard to say which is better. 5w30 being slightly more popular does surprise me slightly. I'd be curious to see compression tests on the high miler guys to see what condition their rings and cylinders are in and what they run. I'm at 170k+ miles and at the moment no tick and never had mds or cam/lifter issues. Ran 5w20 the whole time so far. Next plug change I think a compression test is in order to see if its actually as strong as it feels. Wouldn't mind a dyno either to see how its held up since new, but I've never tested it for a baseline.also both of my engine ticks have been solved over the years. 1st time it was passenger side exhaust manifold. 2nd time it was a dirty injector.

Engine PSI is like 1 PSI different at idle between 20 and 30 weight.
