What oil change route to go?

Its oil change time and I have very few options. I have 10 liters of PUP 5w-30, a fram ultra filter on hand, and a bottle of redline break in oil additive (zddp) on the way. I dont have the tick but dont want it either. I just found a source for the SRT 0w-40 oil but at $14.00 a liter , I'm in Canada. My cost on the 5 liter jugs of PUP 5w-30 is $31.00.

Should I be ok to just run the PUP and the redline additive or woukd it be better to get some srt 0w-40 as well?

Don't overthink it. Use a decent oil and change it as you should.

Can't beat Crappy Tires price on PUP when they put it on sale,lol.Another additive to look into is Bio Techs Lube Guard. Where abouts are you in Canada.There's an outfit in Edmonto that stocks Lube Guard and will ship it anywhere in Canada

I'm in Nova Scotia, I was looking for lubegard but the cheapest I found it was 60.00 and not in stock so I went with the redline additive.

Can only speak on my own experience. There are a lot of great oils out there, I use PUP 5W20 right now. I use to use Mobile one 5W20. No particular reason for changing (I don't care for change). Been a mechanic for 42 years, never blown an engine, change oil every 5000 miles. I don't let a computer decide my oil changes because what I do works for me. Sometimes I wonder if the issues with cam and lifter issues has anything to do with different oil change intervals of today. No way, no how am I going to go 7 to 10000 miles on any oil. My personal belief comes from my own experiences after all these years. Nothing scientific is going to change that. Guess I could be called stubborn by others but doing what works for me. Whatever works for you is what you should do.

If you have access to Redline, you could replace one quart of your 5-30 with this

or
https://www.redlineoil.com/0w40-powersports-oil

and get a good bit of additives added.

Doing something like this will also prevent you from adding too much and poisoning the cat converters.

I dont have access locally, I would need to order it. The reason I didn't this time was the price of the 5w-30 pup. The redline was 140.00 for 7 quarts plus tax and then the 15.00 filter as well. I usually dont care about cost but whith the sale on it was hard to pass up.

You don't need break in oil and you need a better filter.
