Will newer BCM work in 2013 truck?

Hi everyone,

I have a failing BCM on my 2013 3500 Megacab. I'm having a tough time finding the replacement part for it. My local dealer told me only 5 dealers in the country have it and the closest one has it reserved for a customer. I was wondering if a newer (maybe 2014, or 2015) BCM will work on my 2013? I know a lot of the newer modules work on older trucks (like the heated seat module), but I'm unsure about a BCM.

I believe the answer is yes but when replacing you'll need a copy of your settings to flash/program. In addition, I believe a change happened in 2016 where the BCMs had more programmable features added. I've never done it myself but I know I've been told in the past a 2016 will work in my 2014 truck and was necessary for certain upgrades.

Thanks for the reply. I do have a copy of the BCM config with AlfaOBD in addition to my scan tool to perform the BCM replacement procedure in the RF module.

So can I get newer than 2016 or is that the newest that would work? They added the security gateway module on 18+ so stay away from those?

That part I'm unsure of...if I can dig and find who was helping me with BCM questions in the past I'll see if they can post here to let you know.

I am also having BCM issues in a 2013 Ram 2500 with a 6.7 Cummins.
My original BCM part number is 68200252AD, which changes up to 68200252AG and is no longer available.
Does part number even matter or can I just grab any BCM from a newer 2016/2017 truck and reprogram it with alpaOBD???

I believe it's possible but I don't know the details. It looks like this member did it with a 2015 to 2018 swap...

Just an update, I finally found a BCM & RH Hub from a 2016 3500 Diesel and have it working in my 2013 2500 Diesel. Ended up being pretty simple, I never changed any wiring/pinouts on the BCM, just had to change a few settings with AlfaOBD. The truck is working with the Donor BCM files.

Just an update, I finally found a BCM & RH Hub from a 2016 3500 Diesel and have it working in my 2013 2500 Diesel. Ended up being pretty simple, I never changed any wiring/pinouts on the BCM, just had to change a few settings with AlfaOBD. The truck is working with the Donor BCM files.
