I almost took them out when I was doin my mirror retro....but everything ended up working together so they stayed.

I don't think I could cut into my roof.

That's my reasoning too....and if I was just a tiny bit of centered....my ocd would drive me nuts. Might do a bracket in front like yours. That's later on the list though. Doing bedliner and led first

That bracket fits really snug too when the grill is put back on. It was already the perfect length too...didn't have to cut it. Got it at lowes for like $5.

Few mirror build pics....

The inside of your mirror with cover off...the red wires are the ones I ran for power....not fun.

This was probably the most nervy part of the whole process as it was pretty much a one shot, one kill type of deal...

How'd you remove the cover?

Once you pull the mirror off, there will be 3 screws that hold the cover on. You can see in post 213 there's 2 on one side and 1 on the other. You then have to pull the cover off at an angle(outward) as if you were gonna fold your mirror forward.....there is a tiny hook that holds the mirror cover on. Between taking mine off and on like 20 times, I broke it so be careful on this part.
