I realize that this thread is 100 posts long, but the answers to what many of you are saying are already posted.

Do not bring your vehicle in regarding this cruise control issue yet. This was just announced - Dealers don't even have the fix yet and are not prepared to do anything with your vehicle.

This issue happened on something like 1 vehicle out of 4.8 million. I think you'll be fine if you just chill and wait until you get notice from FCA. At worst, don't use your cruise control until then if you're worried.

Has anyone with the 8 speed ever tried to put the truck in neutral at highway speeds? Does it work? If by the insanely small chance that one of us has the issue of CC getting stuck on that should be the best option right? Rather than cooking your brakes trying to overcome that big Hemi.

I am not really worried about it, but I do use CC almost daily.

The fact it only happened once yet they recalled 4.8 million vehicles makes me wonder if its something more than just a quick update.....

That’s how recalls generally work. Massive amounts of vehicles recalled yet very few actually exhibit the issue, but the potential is there.

It will go into neutral, or use the brakes, either will work.

I was traveling out west 4 weeks ago. My cruse started malfunctioning in the following way: When set to, say 75mph, my speed would drop to about 70, then suddenly it was pedal to the medal back up to 75. I stopped using it and did not need it for the 3 weeks we spent in southern Utah. I called my dealer back home and he said the switch probably needed replacing. On my way back east I tried it and it worked fine.
I can't figure out how to update my profile, so here's what I have:
2017 2500 SLT CC LB 6.7-L Cummins 6-speed AT

If you put it into neutral with cruise "stuck" in the on position, does it free rev the engine trying to get up to the cruise control setting...or does it automatically turn cruise off?

If everything is working correctly it will cancel the cruise control.

Just from reading the small, short explanation of the cruise control problem I'm thinking it has more to do with the rain sensing wipers or whatever it is that turns them on automatically.

Unlikely, since the vehicle it happened in was a journey which don’t have rain sensing wipers.

FYI. . .I just had the U05 campaign done today--it took over 3 hours on my 2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn 5.7L (has 8.4 w/ nav). The tech told me that the campaign was only software updates and can take as little as 30 minutes or three hours, depending on installed equipment / VIN. My invoice stated the following:

"18U05153 reprogram IPC with new software. . . completed recall U05. Updated software in PCM, TCM, and IPC. Code for IPC is JA6."

Everything worked as before on the drive home--there were no obvious system changes.

Went to the dealer yesterday and they said my 2018 Ram Lonestar wasn’t affected.

How do they know if your truck is involved if the recall hasn’t even been officially released?

Like come on here guys, I know there’s quite a few pages but the same thing is being repeated over and over again. I feel like a broken record.
