They have the update already?
Yes, my dealer said they already did a few yesterday and it takes about 4 hours to do. Another dealership that is closer to me told me 24 hours so guess which I am going with.

Interesting.

Curious if they update anything else, or if it blows away the transmission adaptive values which might lead to "undesirable" shift quality.

Guess I’ll be waiting to use it, till my buddy can get me in. It’s too nice out for me to sit at the dealer for four hours.

Cruise control will get stuck on? Pressing the brake or the button won't let cruise control disengage? What parts do they have to change to correct this issue?

Oh I’m sure they’ll sneak something in with the update. Like Apple slowing down older iPhones because of battery issues.

Don’t forget to unplug or at least turn off your Pedal Commanders when you get the recall done.

From the articles Ive read it look like it is an issue if you hit the gas at the same time there is a short (somewhere). Im guessing a short trips something that might not allow for cruise control to be...controlled.

The brake/gas override still works, so even though the truck is on cruise you can still slow it down. It does mention once the vehicle is in park, cruise is automatically disabled. Im pretty sure under a certain mph it shuts off as well.

No recalls listed yet for my truck on Mopar or NHTSA sites. They probably haven’t gotten them all in yet.

Oh wow, in my seven years of owning my Ram, I never used the cruise control. Sadly I never even checked to see if it worked.

Ive used it once or twice since I got my truck last October. Honestly I wouldnt really need to get the fix done, but Ill do it mostly just in case my wife is driving the truck and ends up with cruise stuck on.

"In certain vehicles, if such an acceleration were to occur simultaneously with a short-circuit in a specific electrical network, a driver could be unable to cancel cruise-control. However, if this sequence of events were to occur, cruise-control acceleration can be overpowered by the vehicle’s brakes."

"Only one incident related to the malfunction has been reported to Fiat Chrysler (FCAU), and there are no reported injuries."

There has been one reported occurrence of this happening across all of the affected models, so I'm not going to sweat over this. I'll get it fixed at some point and at least I have the knowledge of how to bring it under control should the situation happen to me.

Maybe they'll upload Skynet into the trucks!

Yeah I want to see the official release and PDF for performing the fix.

If it takes 4 hours because they need to re-adapt the transmission, I might avoid the update as long as possible. Too many horror stories about "thumps" after letting the dealer do the re-learn procedure.

I know what you mean but for me, I see recall, I get it done. I have a family and we spend 99% of our road time in my vehicle, so if its recalled then it gets fixed. If some type of problem were to arise somehow from FCA dealers messing up their own recall, well thats a different story and problem entirely. If one cant put some trust into people, paranoia will be the end of said person. Not meaning you, but hey, they put the recall out, why not just appreciate that little bit of care. Wouldnt want to be the next person who experiences this or xyz down the road because I didnt want them 'messing' with my truck for recalls. Its all preference though at the end of the day.
