Is the fuse box on the left side of the dash (driver side)? I planned to buy this (link below) and then go to local store for the "add a fuse thing" ......I've never done it, but it seems easy if that fuse box is to the left of dash

The kit I bought had the fuse alreay on it. I just tapped into a wire that was already hot and ran my ground. Took me about 30 min to install. Used my test light to find the wire that would work

There's a fuse box under the steering column, inside the truck. I did a write up with pics on another forum...
The funny part is I’ve never owned a radar detector. Are there certain models that I should look for ?
Personally I wouldn't hard wire or permanently mount one. In some states they are totally illegal and you can get a ticket for just haveing one in operation. Plus it's just something else to give thieves a reason to break into you're truck.

What did you use to mount this?

I’ve been looking at blendmount but this is super clean.
Gotcha, thanks for the info!Scotch 2-sided tape. I tried Velcro at first, but the stuff I had wasn't tight enough. It wobbled a bit, plus wasn't as clean looking. The other idea I had was to cut a slot in the lower mirror mount cover, with just the tongue of the Uniden mount sticking out. I'd still like to do that. I had/have a Blendmount style mount for my Jeep. But the site I bought it from (Country Joy) said the mirror shaft was the same size in my Ram. It wasn't. But it worked great for years in the Jeep. Country Joy has numerous options in mounts, but I was trying to make the one I had work.
