Successfully switched from tpms to tpis but after resetting RF hub my alert light still is on. I was told that latest windows update would address that issue. Anyone else still experiencing this after updating via windows?

Good Evening. I got my alfaobd today. I was able to change some settings. However I did the 8.4” and mirror swap. I can not get mirror to sync. I don’t have a 911 plug. I have a 2016 Ram 1500. The warning comes on the radio saying to get the mirror serviced. Can anyone let me know if I am doing something wrong or this feature doesn’t work.

I thought you had to have the 911 delete plug or whatever it is called for it to work without warnings messages? This might be a question better made in the 8.4 conversion thread.

If you are talking about the rear view mirror with “911/assist” buttons, there is more than just installing the mirror and radio. You also have to install the proper antenna and wiring to make that message go away.

Ok. I tried 2 different radios and the plug would not work. So that’s y I bought the mirror. I will ask in that section but there is a spot in the alfaobd to do it.

You can get the Auto high beam and the auto dim to work. I have not seen anyone able to use it to bypass either using the resistor or getting the proper antenna.

Ok Thanks. I will continue play with the AlfaOBD. A lot of things can be done and don’t need a dealer. Great tool for a great price.

I was playing around after the new update and I saw there is a setting for the auto headlight threshold. Has anybody played with it yet? I'm hoping I can get the headlights to not come on so soon.

Interesting. Did you play around with any of it?

Has anyone successfully got the Surround Sound to work on a non Alpine system? Looks like you can add it in Alfa...
While you are correct I would still be interested in trying this soon. I have a unique situation with my Ram. Its a Regular Cab and I ordered it with the Alpine system. But when I go to the control screen there is no "Surround Sound" option. Of course the obvious reason is probably because I have less speakers with just an RC, but I do have at least 6 speakers. There are 2 behind the front seats, in the 2 doors, and at least 2 up front. Maybe I will get lucky and it does work or do something.
Just set it in mine a few minutes ago and it shows up in my config as being set. I'll let you know what it does on the 8.4 audio settings in a few.

I've heard of some having issues with this. The only time I have a problem is in the late evening when about to auto switch on and I go in the shadow of some trees or something. For me it is not that bad.

Here are my current settings shown below. I would assume they are the same as yours?

Auto Headlamp ON Threshold: 3.31 V
Auto Headlamp OFF Threshold: 2.55 V

Edit: If anything I wish there was a timer we could adjust. Like if they turn on, don't turn off until 10 minutes later if called to turn off again unless manually turned off.

Chach.....thanks for your answer. If you get a chance maybe take a pic? After seeing your pics of the sensor I did some more research since the pics you posted make it look like the blackened area of the windshield extends under the sensor. In fact it does somewhat. Here is an excerpt from an article I found:

"The rain sensor is mounted beside the rearview mirror in such a way that it is in contact with the windshield. A small portion of the windshield is blackened to hide the rain sensor. However, there is a tiny view port which is not blackened and through which the sensor is able to detect rain."

The full article is here: https://trueblueautoglass.com/windshield-rain-sensor/

I am curious as to just how big the "view port" is in comparison to the overall diameter of the rain sensor. If I remember correctly Ghost had maybe mentioned 2 3/8" for the overall diameter.

Sorry, I kind of skipped over this earlier. The cutout in the frit behind the mirror is the size of the pad only or a tad bit smaller. When you look at a truck with rain sense from factory you will not see into the cab around the edges like mine. The pad itself is 1 9/16" x 1 3/8". The length of the pad (1 9/16") goes left to right and the slightly shorter side (1 3/8") goes top to bottom. The frit area itself would have to be measured from the outside to see what the difference actually is.

I purposely cut mine a little bigger as I wanted to make sure I did not have any interference from the vinyl. IMG-5704.JPG IMG-5705.JPG

This changed nothing on mine but didn't expect it to as @mtnrider stated earlier. For you though, @mjf6175 since you have the Alpine system but not the setting, I would check to even see if Alpine is selected in "Radio" then go to the surround sound setting in ECUConfig3.

Edit: Sorry, not Radio but ECUConfig3 - “Cabin Equalization Curve Number”

Edit 2: Changed mine from Quad Cab 6 Speaker Base (Ds) to Quad Cab Premium (Alpine 12-ch)(Ds). It did not show the surround sound setting in audio but it did make my speakers sound different or odd rather. Reset back to factory settings and all is normal again.

Ok, I didn't play with it, but I was thinking it was a percentage, and not a voltage. I haven't looked at mine, but it probably is the same. I'll have to debate weather or not I want to mess with it. It should be easy to put back if I mess it up.

It's a voltage because the sensor itself is a photoresistor. It takes the 5v input from the trucks's sensor network, then the voltage output varies depending on the light level striking it. The dark cover over it prevents the top and bottom end of the range from being useful.

If you want the more technical explanation the first couple paragraphs of this wikipedia article isn't a bad layman's explanation of how they work. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photoresistor
