Are there a lot of etorque problems occurring? I read a customer review on Edmunds about lots of people having issues with it breaking. I've searched this forum but haven't found anything like that, only mentions some occurrences of bad mpg and the inability to order the option from the factory. Trying to figure out which engine to get. I've got a '15 RAM 1500 and I'm looking to trade it in for '19 at some point this year.

I have etorque as well as air ride...with only 1200 miles I've had no issues. In regards to fuel mileage I'm getting 15.5 city and 18+ highway. I also have the 3:92 gearing. I like it...

in september my wife bought a 2019 Ram w/etorque we now have over 3,000 miles on it and like it so much i traded my truck for a 2019 Ram w/etorque and have nearly 2,000 miles on it also ... both trucks have had NO problems and i like the e/torque ... overall average mpg on both trucks has remained 18 - 19 mpg combined driving (hand calculated)

Yes I have read others have had problems too, on the other forum or this one, one of the two? I have read of someone with a delay problem. But like others I have had NO problems and love it, I have 4300 miles an no issues, so smooth on how it works. As far as gas mileage it is a unsung hero, the save is in the start stop, reset the AVG MPG and turn off the start/stop and watch you mpg drop, the other thing torgue is what move the truck, so having the initial 130lbs at take off will help, but will you see it? Not really! Plus its a V8 moving a heavy truck!

Thanks for all of the feedback. I'll test drive an etorque hemi soon! Then I'll talk to a local service manager. I'm in no rush so it all depends on the incentives in the coming months as to when I pull the trigger.

I'm curious why people would spend another $1,450 on this mild hybrid system. Read the break-in point to make the $$$ back is 83k, why bother spending the extra in the first place?

This video will explain why.
The way the trucks are priced in Canada it is only $500. I drove my new truck almost 10,000 kms in the last 4 weeks and would buy it no question. It is about drivability as much as fuel saving. The cruise control maintains speed much better. Cruise resumes to speed quicker etc. Nice system.

Is anyone experiencing problems with the system during this very cold weather?

No problems with mine at 5000 miles.
I don't think it's about fuel savings as much as how much better it makes the driving experience. My Rebel is averaging 17.1 mpg now that I put in some Bestline oil treatment. It was 15.8. hardly anywhere near the 19 avg that Ram claims. Probably the furthest off I've ever seen coming from an EPA window sticker rating. Something I can usually best by 1 or 2 mpg.
People seem to be getting around 14 on the non- etorque engines. Pretty grim.
Etorque is worth it and really I think it should be standard on the 5.7L like it is on the 3.6L.

We just picked our truck up Friday and the pos is doa already. Just a couple hundred miles on the truck. Don’t buy this vehicle . My 08 is still running strong while my 2019 is sitting in the middle of the road rt now unmovable .

Don't you have 2-3 business days in most states to return a vehicle? If so, looks like maybe you should do that. Sucks that happened, I wouldn't personally do etorque especially in the first year, and don't care for the stop/start fuel saving stuff. I'm on the other end, just give me some more damn power naturally aspirated and I'd be happier.

Thanks all,

I ended up getting the etorque and have had it about a month. Overall I like it. The start stop isn't as noticeable as it is on other trucks since it doesn't use the starter to "re-start". It only bugs me when it shuts off before the truck cabin is cooled down but I just turn it off temporarily when it does that.

As for the "it takes you X amount of miles to recoup your money" crowd, I have 2 comments:

1. Name another option actually pays for itself over time?
2. I didn't pay $1500 for the option, I paid about $1000 for it when you factor in all the discounts on the truck.

I just picked up my 2019 with eTorque as well and I don't mind it.

Generally speaking I am very happy with how it performs.

This is a thread I will be monitoring as I just bought one last week (6 cyl 3.7 L comes standard with eTorque). So far no issues after the first few days, but I would be lying if I said I wasnt a bit paranoid about it.

I thought in the 2020 models the eTorque was standard in both the V6 and V8 models. Maybe only in the Longhorn and Limited, as those are the two I'm shopping right now.
