Leave a raw chicken in the back for a few weeks, that'll get rid of it.

Cigarette smoke iss permanent in the headliner, carpet and anything else that has cloth or fiber and can absorb the smoke molecules. Use of an ozone machine is only temporary. The only way to remove it is to remove and replace the headliner or its going to come back the first sign of any humidity. Seats can be treated after shampooing and the carpet should be removed and either a shampoo and oder treatment or replacing. Good luck!!!!

I used to drive long haul for CR England. As a rookie, my first assigned rig was a well used (over 2MILL miles on the odom) and was terrible with smoke smell. I used a bottle of Febreeze and got good results. I'd mist all of the surfaces, especially the cloth surfaces. I also vacuumed the cab several times. It took about a week and a bottle of the Febreeze but it did seem to help.

We had mold / musty odor in our car carpet (A/C problem) and she went to O'Reilly's and they sold her Ozium spray odor eliminator. I had my doubts -- but, it worked as advertised.

ozium.jpg Go down to your local auto parts or Walmart and pick up an 8oz can of Ozium for under $10.

My wife and a friend smokes in my truck all the time, a couple quick sprays eliminates the odor until the next time they get in the cab.

When I was stationed in Hawaii, we used Ozium to get rid of the pot smell before an inspection, works great!

Actually with ozone machines in cars it’s the opposite. We’ve found at work that the very best combination is to put the ozone machine on the center console on a towel (that way the feet don’t put an indentation on the arm rest), turn the air conditioning ON, put the fan on HIGH, and turn recirculate ON. That has been the most effective. It runs the ozone through all the vents and the blower motor, which is hard to get to with the bombs. I’ve done this method a bunch of times in customers cars and it’s worked flawlessly. I did it in my own used beater I bought years ago where it was so heavily smoked in that there was a film on the window. Ran the machine in it for 6 hours or so and never even had a hint of smoke, even on a hot humid day where the car was sitting in the sun all day.

This, except you don't want to run ac for 6 hours. There is two things going on, treating smoke in the general area in the vehicle and treating the vents. One good thing about the airzone is it is circular exit port so you can put a tube on it and make a manifold to cover vents and power treat that area.

To those who leave windows open, I'm not sure why someone would leave the window open, again it is easy to make a manifold with plastic and painters tape if you want to operate the machine outside the vehicle. It is actually a good idea to do this as the ozone machine's lifespan would be increased by not operating in the 03 environment.

That thing got a Hemi... yup.
Also, you can put Ivory soap bars under the seats... they absorb smell as well - but not a immediate solution. Putting a dish of white vinegar when the vehicle is parked outside works too. The vinegar smell will grab the smoke smell - again a slow process. Ozone machine is the #1 solution.

Bought the below listed used '18 1500. Seems the previous owner smoked in the vehicle. I've never smoked and can't stand the stale smell of the cigarettes.

Any fool proof ways to get rid of the stench?
The only thing that i found that really works is Biocide can be bough at summit racing or go right to their web sight Biocidesystems.com works really well and its 25.00 or so

Ozium is my go-to product for odors as well. First used it years ago to get diesel odor out of cloth seats in a Oldsmobile I owned. Never without a couple cans in the house and garage.

I had the same issue when I bought my 17 Big Horn. I replaced the cabin air filter, cleaned the seats and carpet with upholstery cleaner, used a microfiber with upholstery cleaner on the headliner, and then removed the back seat and cleaned the panel behind it. Once all of that was done, cleaned all the plastics and windows. That finally removed all of the smell

My son just bought a truck with the cigar or cigarette smell issue real bad. I spoke to a local detailer before he bought it and he was sure he could get rid of it not cover it up . We cleaned good with off the shelf cleaners and bought our own Ozone generator. That helped but it took a day and a half stay at the detailers and that took care of it . Save yourself a stinky job and just farm it out and be done with it. Ozium didn't do diddly on this truck.

You got a PhD in stinkology? I hate when people use absolutes when describing what works and what doesn’t. You only know what you know and not what others know that you don’t.

Of course it was a good deal. RCSB 2016 100% black with only 9000 miles to start with a month ago . I asked about removing the smell before hand from the people who would be removing the smell if purchased in my sons case

When I bought my truck it was the only one for sale this side of the Mississippi at the time. Criteria was 2017-2018, EcoDiesel, Laramie Longhorn trim, black exterior, brown interior, short bed, no RAM box, clean Carfax (no wrecks), 3.92 gears. under 30K miles. Luckily the only one was 45 minutes from home.

Mine had a slight smell, but not overbearing. Biggest issue for me was the ashes and film that would come through vents and coat the trim around them.

I immediately vacuumed everything (car lots never get under/behind seats well) and replaced the cabin air filter. As in once a month (I put 20k a year on my truck) for around 6 months. Wasn't cheap but the ash dust is gone and so is smell. Now I change it on suggested intervals.

I use the Fram filters with Arm & Hammer. Purolator has one now as well with Febreeze.

From a young age I worked in my dad's autobody shop. We used to use formaldehyde to wash any smoke damage/stain from fires. On the interior's to get rid of the smoke smell, we would place pie plates with formaldehyde in them on the vehicle floor, close the doors and windows and let the formaldehyde evaporate. By the next day the smoke smell was gone.

Never had to use it for cigarette/cigar oder but it might be worth a try. Fire/smoke stain was easily wiped/washed away with a wet rag of formaldehyde.

get a bag of plain charcoal. Put in various open flat containers all over the truck and close up the windows tight. Charcoal is an adsorber, that is it grabs scent molecules. Longer the better.
