I agree, it's a downer when camping season ends. I winterized and covered the 5er this weekend. It's like Christmas morning every time I get to pull the cover off and get ready for another year of adventures.

I have had pretty good luck with camping neighbors, none of the rude folks that stay up all night partying and none of the folks that can't be bothered to wave and say hello.

Seasons? lol I've heard of them. I have always lived in the Southeast USA. So riding motorcycles and camping was year round. Dressing differently in some months, heading different destinations/locales, but still doing stuff!

I am betting Feb 26 and 27th will be the coldest, wettest, days of the NC winter! Anniversary weekend!

That's great man! You were lucky. Don't get me wrong, none of the neighbors were horrible, up all night making noise, ect. In that situation. I would call the park rangers and let them deal with em.

On every trip though when the weekday neighbors rotated out for the weekend ones or vice versa, we wound up with one that would be on our side of his rig, like10 feet or so from us in some cases, my whole family is sitting outside relaxing and they can't be bothered to look over, make eye contact and say hello?

It's simple courtesy to me, we don't have to talk, but seeing other people so close and you can't be bothered to say hello is just weird and rude to me.....

But is it just a generation gap? I'm not that old but was raised old school by an army sergeant Dad. Or is it just an unfortunate sign of this day and age when so many people are so self centered?

Who knows. It's just sad it seems campers are not as friendly as they were years ago, in general. Not all, but seems more and more to me.

I see that as well. A lot of new campers. I usually say hi to break the ice. But we also camp at the same CG a lot and the seasonals know us and say hi. I also noticed that dog people tend to be friendlier especially when they're walking their dogs or we're walking ours. But that's just my observation.

Unfortunately I think that's a lot of it. The "everyone gets a trophy/ entitled " generation. But I'm old now so....hahaha

You guys aren't into winter camping? ;)

That is what I am hoping to do this year. Unfortunately, the last few years we have had more ice than snow and the roads to get to the campgrounds that allow for winter camping...they can be a handful without the trailer. Snow I can do...the ice gives me hives.

It could be the generation gap but it could also be that some people are not sure if others want to be bothered, especially if they see it's a family. My rule is if you look in my general direction, you get a hello if we're close enough distance-wise, and if not, a wave as I'm driving by your site or as you drive by mine. I've met some phenomenal people camping, and most all are willing to help if you find an issue with your camper...which let's be honest...you will at some point ;)

So here's a perspective from the flip side, I prefer to be left alone. Not because I'm old and cranky (which I am) but because I go camping to get away from all the daily grind and BS to include people. In fact I'm never happier camping when I can't see another soul and just view and listen to nature. Which is why I prefer to boondock or at least dry camp in lesser used campgrounds. Some people love to talk, that's not me. Now my wife is a talker, anytime, anywhere, anyone. I just sit in my chair and let her go about her business.

Fair enough. Thanks

That is pretty much exactly how I am. Now why can't I have a neighbor like you, or @Bigdaddy, @Loudram, @392DevilDog, @crash68, @MADDOG, @69GWC, @Burla or any of the other great regular posters we have on this great site. That would be awesome!

My wife and I thought we bought our dream house, brand new with custom stuff, but at the end of a dead end street. As it turned out, every single night adults and kids were in the street like it was disneyland. Man, I hated it, we ended up moving to the country at the top of the hill end of the street, now we don't see anyone 6 mos at a time. I like meeting with like minded people, but I tell you these days there is something radically different then old school people. I say you got to get a feeling for the people that camp next to you, if they are cool then you will have the best time of your life, if they are not like minded, you aren't even safe, bug out.
