Thanks. I have tried to clay the truck semiannually since new and have tried several different waxes/sealants from old school Turtle wax to Chemical Bros to Mothers. They all work, more or less, but I really like this Mothers ceramic for ease of use. I saw a comparison on YouTube that showed it outlasting a lot of other options and figured I'd try it.
Dec 4th application of the Mother's ceramic.

I just washed the truck (2/20/22) and it is still beading and sheeting water reasonably well. It made cleaning off the road grime very quick. I'll probably reapply in March, though.

I sprayed out the underneath as best I could while we have some above freezing time. It's supposed to snow again later this week, but I've got the salt out for now. 10 years old, zero rust on body panels and only very light surface rust on some components underneath (exhaust, mainly, and what I guess is some sort of anti-vibration weights). I've been very careful about regular wash/wax and using touch up paint on any rock chips as soon as I find them.

Drove down to Ford River Rouge Assembly Plant for some Robotics and Controls work.
We got 8" of snow the night before and the freeways weren't touched by plows at 5am.
The big girl did great, Top speed achieved was ~50MPH at one point, but I typically could only drive about 30 or so due to the conditions.
They also let me drive into the complex. (So of course I flexed on the Broncos and a Super duty, lol)
I parked between the outdoor crane (on the right) and the first building on the property (left).
Very cool place, a lot of history and the architecture is amazing. After 100+ years this building is still used daily for hydraulic presses and laser cutting.

Installed some sound deadening in the doors today and ordered enough more to hit the back wall tomorrow
Used a combo of noico or siless 80mil butyl rubber and then noico 150 mil foam over it
Wasn’t going for 100% coverage but a fair amount of coverage for the doors. Not planning to do any major audio upgrades any time soon just wanted to make the cab a little quieter

Interior door panels weren’t actually too difficult to remove, just scary looking at first since you gotta pop the window loose. After the first door, it only took me about 5 minutes per door after to get it disassembled

5 minutes per door? You must move like the flash! It took me like 20 per door to get them apart haha.

The first thing I noticed after doing this to my entire cab is how much noise comes through the actually glass. Super weird, but so nice and quiet!

That’s been on my “to do list “ for a while.

Any thoughts of doing the floor or roof also?

I did the whole floor and the whole back of the cab. Still haven't done the roof though. Been on the to do list for like two years haha.

Probably a bit overkill but since I was going to have everything apart, I figured I might as well do it all.

Planning to do back of the cab and under the rear seats definitely, in my other cars doing under the front seats didn’t seem to have as much of an effect so I’m not in a huge rush for that
As for the roof…probably won’t be doing it, I’d rather live with the little noise that comes through the roof than risk having a rattle after putting the roof back together

My dewalt gyroscopic screwdriver and 3/8 impact driver are easily some of the best tools I’ve ever bought
Makes stuff such a breeze

my thoughts exactly. Figure when I pull the front seats out, and install the electric ones I have, I’ll just tackle it all together.

not so much for ‘audio’ , but more for comfort.

Did you give Dynamat consideration?

I’ve thought about it before, but from the looking into it that I’ve done In the past when it comes to brands for the butyl rubber they’re all within a few percent of close to the same as long as they aren’t asphalt based. Similar story when it comes to closed cell foam or hydrophobic melamine foam.

As far as using MLV, I haven’t had a desire to undertake doing MLV in any of my personal vehicles but I did a sound proofing job in a 2000 international dt466 crew cab dump truck and I used second skin for the mlv because they had a product that combined MLV with a closed cell foam which meant one less step for me.

Most of the time I just haven’t been able to justify the cost for brand name sound deadening products when I know I’m not doing a full audiophile build and not going for a 100% quiet environment so the minimal difference in sound deadening is worth the money saved for me

Drove it through the snow today!
Thank God for 4X4! The roads this morning really sucked. The people that did come to work today, did say the same. I heard there were lots of spinouts.
Coming home was much better.

enjoyed testing my all new front suspension with 2.5" level kit. Replaced everything two weeks ago, but, finally got to put some miles on it, new jba upper control arms, moog lower arms, timken bearings, moog inner and outer tie rods, kyb truck plus strut assemblies new axle shafts. Love the fact that my wife cant see over the dash cause now she dosen't want to drive it...lol. Did all of the rear 4 link suspension last month.

But now seeing the last two posts I wish I had got them seat fans blowing too!!
