If you do, get the warranty on it. The tip will nearly break off after continued use once it's hot and pressure is applied to it repeatedly. It only comes with a flat triangle tip and plastic hpde? filler sticks that aren't compatible with abs plastic. But for $20 it will get the job done.

See my post here.

They have two models, i was going to splurge for the better one in hopes it would hold up longer.

Thanks for the pictures it helps to see it. Any chance of a close up of the brushed Metallic top section of the doors?

... I just received a sample of the 3m 1080 Brushed Black Metallic in the hopes of covering my Laramie woodgrain door panels with something that's a closer match to the Limited dash, wheel and console I installed.

I have been on the hunt for a glossy black wrap with the lighter streaks in it similar to the following Limited style. Anyone know of anything that will be a close match???

Here's some photos of the door trim. I also used 3M's brushed black metallic, so this is what it'll look like if you decide to go with it:

So it's been a while since I've had time to mess with my truck, but I've made some more changes! I wanted to match the door panels to the dash, but was a little intimidated by the plastic welds holding everything together. It wasn't as bad as I thought, a little time consuming though.

So here's the results:

i know (now) that the center console is held together with welded spots, but the door panels that you wrapped, are those pieces also held in with plastic welded spots aswell?

I cannot stand the chrome blinding me in the sun anymore. Thanks for pushing me over the end to order some wrap and get rid of the chrome and wood grain interior pieces.

Also see tools to plastic weld ram letters on an aftermarket eBay limited style grill... here.

I can answer this. Just removed mine and wrapped the wood grain in 3m 1080 brushed black metallic... Had to cut off the plastic weld rivets, do the wrap and melt it back together once done with a plastic welding iron (or solder iron) ...33643b043b55978428aca0cf26d65825.jpg

Edit:
Also did this radio bezel that had a scratch on it a week later
... I was able to snip off the little weld tabs on the chrome trim, remove it and the translucent knob inserts and get a decent wrap. Still a huge PiTa. Online videos make it look super easy. Re-melted the chrome trim pins back once done with a soldering iron. 3m 1080 Brushed Black Metallic vinyl ...

That looks SO much better, it shoulda come that way in the first place.

Im going to order a yard of Katzkin vinyl to match the red centers of my Katzkin seats, and will wrap the inner vinyl portion of the door panels (the outer piece like @Mpgrimm2 just wrapped is already brushed aluminum look on my Big Horn, so Ill leave it alone)

Agreed. I really liked all the Laramie features but never liked the wood grain look/interior. Swapped out the steering wheel, dash and console cup holder assy with ones from a limited and very happy with it now. Took me about 3-4 hrs per door to do it this way so I could wrap it all the way behind the trim piece.

If you have any questions about getting the plastic rivets off (flush diag. cutters work great) or plastic welding it back just let new know. I forgot to take pictures of the re-melted mounts (harbor freight $17 iron/kit will get it done). There are also some useful YouTube videos that helped me out.

So did you only have to melt/break the red circles or did you also have to melt/break the blue ones as well? Just want to gain as much info as I can before I take my door panels off. I’m also going to take ChrisBH17’s idea and wrap the doors arm rest in leather. I’m going to order some from leather seats.com as it’s easy to order compared to Katzkin which you have to go through a reseller to purchase.

The red ones for the trim piece I wrapped and Chris would need the blue ones for the 'leather' wrapped armrest pad.

For extra clarification, you also need to cut the blue ones to get the silver/ chrome trim ring off as it's layered behind the armrest pad.

So glad this thread popped back up! I have everything ready to wrap my Laramie wood grain trim to White.

First time attempting something like this... Fingers crossed! :893karatesmiley-thu

EDIT: Any links or tips on taking the door panels off?

All door panels are plastic welded with a "sonic weld, it is a high frequency vibration weld that heats up the plastic and bonds it. The two pieces usually have two different harnesses of plastic that creates the rivet like finish.

Yea I’ve never seen that before, pretty cool. Anyways, I tried to wrap my radio bezel and it was a NIGHTMARE because I didn’t know you could melt the tabs and separate the sides from the center, I was trying to vinyl wrap each side as once piece and could NOT get the vinyl to lineup properly with the indented line separating the sides from the center.

Sooooo glad I found this thread as I am 100% doing this. But before I do all this, I need to get all my parts together for my center console swap (had them all a year ago but sold them cause I needed a 3rd seat in my reg cab , turns out I don’t need that middle seat anymore and wish I kept it all. Anyways once I get the new radio bezel meant for the console, and the console itself, I’ll start wrapping everything.

The 09-12 Radio Bezels are pretty similar to the 13+, I’m assuming the 09-12 have the same weld tabs holding the sides to the middle?
