Stupid question, Do you have to have an active Uconnect subscription to get these updates?
Not a stupid question at all. I think I recall someone on the thread mentioning they aren't suscribed to XM radio or uconnect services and still had the update. It might have been PowrRam but don't hold me to it.

It was me. I got the update the 2nd day it was available. I don't have an active UConnect subscription. And I believe it's called Sirius XM Guardian starting in 2018, not UConnect subscription.

Just put calling Chrysler Customer Care and ******** about the update on my calendar for Monday.

Somewhat related - Im considering dumping DirecTV because they, too, cant (or most likely, won't/don't want to) fix their own software mistakes.

I would be emailing UConnect/RAM/FCA every day, personally, and I dont even drive my truck that much.

Called them and was told I should check https://www.driveuconnect.com/support/software-update.html enter my VIN and see if there is any updates available. The CSR did it for me and of course, there were no updates ready.

She said they don't tell the CSR's when the update will come out and all I could do was keep checking that website.

I asked if I could escalate the issue and she went ahead and did that for me. I got a new case number and a promise a case manager would call me in 1-2 business days. I have heard this before so I'm not too hopeful it will happen, but we shall see.

Everybody, please keep calling and putting on pressure.

And I thought I was the only one with the muffled sound radio after the update. I called uconnect and they know about the update the issue, but they don't have date on when this will be corrected. I have my truck into the dealer now (for an actuator door issue) and they will deal with uconnect.

I entered my VIN, and no updates listed either.

I didn't get a call back in the 1-2 days as promised so I called them. Got put on hold for eight minutes. Then I was told my case manager's name and was put on hold to see if he was available. Twelve minutes later I was told my case manager would call me before the end of the day.

Twenty nine minutes later I get a call from my case worker. After unloading a bit, while making it known I was NOT dumping on him specifically, I asked a bunch of questions. I was told:

* There is no date set for the software update to fix the issue.
* There have been thousands of complaints.
* The fix will almost certainly be another over-the-air update and not one that is downloaded from the UConnect update site.
* The update will tell what is in it on-screen. We will get the option to take it or refuse it. There will be no force-feeding of the update.
* He gave me his direct number and said to call for info whenever I wanted. Also to call him with any other issues or for information on service bulletins.

I was somewhat heartened by the amount of detail that was provided about the nature of the update. The optimist in me thinks the reason they can give so much detail is because they must be close to releasing it. Could the offer to call anytime be an indication that a fix is imminent? In other words, "call anytime but after next week you won't need to, which is why I'm generously making the offer." < fingers crossed >

The sad part is that they could have released an update with nothing but EQ fixes in about a day. This sounds like they just decided “no big deal, we’ll just add to the next scheduled update” which is absolute ********!

Oh I hope you’re not teasing us.... haha. My wife’s Dodge Dart has a better stereo than my 18 ram.

My stereo sounded muddy after the update. The other day, my 8.4 would only play at 100% volume, even on level 1. So I disconnected the battery for a half hour or so to see if it would reset and correct the volume issue. Well, it did correct the issue and now it also no longer sounds as muddy. Go figure

Weird...I tried that but only for a few min on the disconnect. I figure it's worth another shot though.

Trying to see how disconnecting the battery could possibly cause the software in the stereo head unit to revert to a previous version. Failing to see how.

Let us know if your truck starts asking you to update your UConnect software.

OK, what's with the automatic links being inserted into the post? "Battery" is now a clickable link thanks to Viglink.

I agree, no idea how it could change anything, but it isn't as muddy as before. I'm clueless.
