I have struggled with the best placement for my phone since purchasing my RAM. I use my phone for navigation, preferred over OEM Nav, and with changing phones, cases etc. I come back to the useless area at the top of the dashboard. (See pic)

I was wondering if anyone in the forum found a useful and inexpensive way to prop up a phone.

I saw elsewhere in the forum people purchased aftermarket solutions. Often large and expensive.

Thoughts...

Thanks looking for more of a prop. My overpriced case doesn’t allow for the strength of magnet to be effective.

I use the proclip in my challanger and I stuck the magnet directly on to the surface of my case, both are black but schosche also sells the magnets in silver, gold, etc.

So...

This is a little redneck, but it works ok and it’s cheap. You just lean your phone back against the glass in the below part of your vehicle. I don’t have a picture of the phone there because you know, I only have one phone :p

Just lean it up here, it’s discrete, sounds ok and it’s in your line of site. Just don’t do any rallycross and it’ll stay just fine :p

EDIT: I know the OP asked about the little cubby area but I’m offering a different option for consideration, cheaper (read free) and still works pretty well.

Maybe I’ll just rubber-band it around the rear view.

That would work too but I would recommend using binder clips, because the rubber could break or disintegrate on your phone.

Looks like a great solution. Just visited the site. $80 complete - pretty expensive.

Wish there was a no-slip rubber block of sorts I could just sit in there and prop it up.

No cheap, but solid.

ram mounts company (not RAM truck related) is another source of more generic mobile mounts.

Yeah...it’ll bother the hell out of me.

If the phone isnt on the mount its in my pocket or being used in my hand. So unless I have it laying around face down somewhere it's literally unnoticeable.

Yeah, it’s my OCD.

Previously I have had the magnet on the inside if the case. Worked great. New case effed me on that as a continuing option.

Even thought a out a case with “kickstand” to see if that would work.

You sure about that? I have mine inside two layer case and it doesn’t go anywhere. And I have an iPhone 6plus
