We were Dodge when we first came out, and changed to RAM during our run. We are still going strong. 2019 and as announced 2020 and beyond! Every year that goes by makes me glad I picked a 4th gen. It just adds to the legend!

Found this from a mototrend article from July 2019.

/Quote/"Ram 1500 Classic Fans Rejoice: An Update Could Be Coming
Legacy pickup not going away anytime soon

There is no end date in sight for the Ram 1500 Classic pickup that FCA sells alongside its newest-generation Ram, and it may get an update, CEO Mike Manley suggests.

As a lower-priced option, the previous-generation 1500 lives on as the Classic and it continues to notch steady sales while increasing Ram market share and generally driving the competition crazy.

As long as the Classic continues to make business sense, there are no plans to discontinue the truck based on the 2018 model platform anytime soon, Manley told investors on the second-quarter earnings call. In fact, it might get an update, Manley said."/Quote/

By "here" do you mean of "RAMFORUM"? I would say absolutely for many years to come. If you were to take another poll of best looking RAM among the generations I bet the 4th GEN would win hand down. The 5th GEN certainly has a better interior and rides better but I think the 4th GEN wins out in the looks department(mostly because of no crosshair grille)of course that's just my opinion. I will say that the interior and improved ride are enough to have made me consider upgrading but the thought of giving up my lifetime warranty squashed that idea pretty G-D quick.

^^^ agree completely. The 19 inte.rior is amazing and the ride is better. But I saved a lot of money and have a lifetime warranty on my 18 so..... and soon enough we will be able to retrofit the 4th gen with the 5th gen interior. Seems like the new 2500 is same cab layout as old so I think a new hd interior swap would work. You coul likely swap the front end if you wanted from a hd also since it's the same cab back from what I read

I think the 4th gens are still being produced because of assembly line cost, and left over parts. Because they made some changes around 5-6 years ago across all Ram's I think they are still paying off the 4th gen assembly line, and tooling for parts. Until they meet their margin we will continue to see "Classics" Its brilliant if you think of it from a marketing perspective. It gives FCA cash flow to an antiquated project, and keeps the people that liked the 4th gen style loyal because they can still buy the truck they loved for a decade. Also it keeps the junk yards, and aftermarket thriving for now two generations.

Driving home the other day my son who's three and loves trucks saw a 5th gen and he called it a Chevy. For only being 3 he knows his trucks pretty well but I thought it was pretty funny. Him and I both hope they keep making the classics for as long as they can.

truck has been based off a 2009 MY not 2018...w/e

I dont count new bracing around the front wheel subframe/frame or a new bolt up tranny or updated bumpers/fog lights = a new model

dont kid yourself this design hella old (based off 2 DECADES ago) - but still best looking on road imo

The 4th Gens are being sold as a means to 'split the baby' in a way. GM has the Colorado/Canyon. Ford (now) has the resurrected Ranger. FCA has, err, umm, a stretched out Jeep with Ram 1500 suspension parts, a drop-in Pentastar or ED, and a $65k price tag.

The 'Classic' fixes that. It allows Ram to sell full-sized trucks at a mid-sized price, and more importantly, allows Ram to consume huge chunks of marketshare in the full-size category.

Seriously - Joe Shopper wants a new truck. Now, he can buy a puny Colorado or Ranger for $35k or so, or he can by a shiny new Full-Blown Ram 1500 for the same price. As a bonus, he gets a better interior, better performance, a bigger payload... what's not to like? Let the other suckers settle for a tiny truck...

Now there is rumor of the Dakota coming back, around MY 2021 or so. Also, the new plant in Michigan should be up by then, and if you're building a new plant to move your **** to anyway, why bother to up-tool the plant in Mexico when you're just going to close it? Put it to use and crank out more 4th Gens.

But yeah, I'll put my marker down on 2021 as the last model year for the 4th Gens. I'll be pleasantly surprised if they go beyond that (more spare parts for me - yay!), but I think that'll be the inflection point, and we'll likely end up with a new Dakota along the way?

That is interesting, because when I first saw the ford ranger from the front, I thought it looked like a 5th gen ram.

The new rangers to me do look a lot more like a 5th gen then the silverados do but you can't argue with a 3 year old lol. No matter how many times I told him it was a dodge ram he would just say no dad it's a chevy.

Thank you. He's very smart but also very stubborn lol. My wife and I are truly blessed to have him in our lives. Thanks to a cancerous tumor I had to have removed the Monday after Christmas I have the rest of January off. Hopefully this week I will be going to buy him and I a fun project car to make our own and eventually it will be his first car.
