I love my ARE!! I added some RW interior lights like I use in the patrol cars and wired them to a 2-way switch so I have a nice white or a low glare red if I want too. I also added a bed rug and a tailgate rug mat and both are awesome!!

They don’t ship because of the size, but if you are on the East Coast near Lancaster, Pennsylvania, worth the drive !

We have a 2019 RAM 1500 Warlock Quad Cab with an ARE V series Cap , with bed rug. We tow a 20 ft. Travel Trailer.

As you know with the installation of a Cap you loose access to your Cab brake light. I want to mount a cargo camera in the Cap brake light an to hook into my 8.4 media center. I was thinking of using the OEM cargo camera but figured the video cable would be too short. I am looking for suggestions.

Thanks for the tip about Ischlers. I'm only about 40 minutes away and, although I don't want a cap, I was lookiing to replace my tonneau and they have a bunch of great options, INSTALLED, for good prices. I will definitely check them out. By the way, how did you get from Lancaster County PA to Alabama?

When I bought my truck, it came with this ARE Z Series cap. Liked the looks of the truck better without it, but it's staying on there now...comes in handy. It is carpeted, has the fold down front sliding window, and screened crank out rear side windows...couldn't have been cheap... NewRims3.jpg RamRear.jpg

Leer, ARE and SnugTop seem to be the "premium" caps that are available. I've had a Leer and a SnugTop and like them both. I was especially impressed with the color match, both matched the truck perfectly. I think all three are pretty much in the same price range.

Same, I used to always say to people that putting a cap on a truck was a waste and you might as well buy a van.

But as I get older, and my family grows I really see the benefit. I want one! I'm finding it difficult to hold out for the next couple years until I replace my truck.

I took my cap off for the weekend (had to load my quad) and the truck looked so weird without it. Couldn't wait to put it back on.

I had a cap n my 2004 SCLB, it was a work truck and the cap kept my tools and supplies out of the weather. My 2017 CCSB came with an OE tonneau. I recently got a LEER 100XQ, carpeted, removable front slider and Thule roof track for my Whispbar HD racks. Very nice cap. My only issue is with Truck'n America's install.

I keep going back and forth on whether or not I want to pursue getting a cap. I love the looks of the caps with the crossbars, but truly don’t know if I would use it enough to justify the cost. I wish My truck was a long bed, then it would be a no brainier because I could use it for camping, and actually be comfortable back there. Since I have the shortbed, it may be a waste.

In my opinion if your tossing around the idea then you want / could use it....I searched for over a year on Craigslist before I found mine...spent 600 and can paint match it myself for 140...so all in I will be 800 after paying for my fuel to go get, paint, and time to paint.....well worth it in my opinion...be patient unless you have that kind of scratch laying around then DOOOOOO ITTTTTTTTTT haha good luck on making a decision

IMHO they give you a lot more useable space--keeps your stuff dry and keeps it secure. I also think we've started to get past the idea that you have to be an "old guy" to want a camper shell. If you pair the shell with a bed rug, I think it looks really good and the bed becomes a lot more functional for like camping etc.--Just my .02

First post to the forum here... Picked up a Leer 100XR with upgrades for a STEAL! Just got it painted to match and the bedliner sprayed and I'm pretty happy. I think it's common for those of us with this truck to notice what seems like a paint mismatch but I think it's just the angles the light hits the topper and the truck around it. What do you all think?

And the Bedrug and matching tailgate Bedrug cover makes it soooo much easier on the knees when crawling into the tailgate and around in the bed of the truck!
