So, when looking for a used RAM, does the 2013 have enough advancements over the 2011/2012 to justify only looking at 2013 and newer trucks? Just curious what your opinions are.
I know for sure with the V6, but if I'm looking at the Hemis?
Thanks in advance.

I'd say yes. Interior has a more modern upgraded look with the 7" evic cluster and the 5" or 8.4" radio. More oem upgrade support with alfaobd. Obviously the exterior is mostly the same except with the 1500s having the vertical fogs.

I agree with the rest. Get a 13 or newer if at all possible. Much more updated interior and much easier to upgrade and add pretty much every factory option you wish with the Alfa OBD. Also as stated the debut of the 8 speed transmission which is a huge upgrade.

I thought 8sp came with 2014 and newer. But yeah, get 8sp if that's an option
The biggest news with the 2013 Ram 1500 is the addition of the new 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission, which is available with both the 3.6L Pentastar V6 and the mighty 5.7L Hemi.Apr 5, 2012

I not sure if they run the Torq flight or the zf for that year.

It seems That you are interested in a 1500...but for info

2013 the HeavyDuty went to the Class V hitch system and the GVWR went from 8800 to 10000 on a 2500. 2013 is also the first year for DEF on the Cummins.

There were a few interior and exterior changes from 2012 to 2013 also.

2014 is the debut of the 6.4l BGE.

I believe that Octane is correct, the early 2013's had the 6 speed, I also have a 6 speed in my 2013.
