I've tried both plasti dip and covers because I hated the factory wheels, I say paint them. Finally I got rebel knock offs, when you need tires I would recommend them. Plasti dip becomes permanent after a while, there aint no getting it off after a few years, and then you can do nothing. You can also get them powder coated.
Hate these things, they wouldnt be half bad if they were chrome or even stainless, but whatever this cr ap is, I hate it. Now, I'm just the kind of guy who hates waste, so I wanted to use up the factory rubber up, so I was trying to make it livable. Plasti dip seamed the better choice between caps or dip, but they get a rust color to them and then you have black rust looking rims with no way to change it. The dip becomes so attached you can scrub it when you wash your car and not remove any of it. Mind you when I say scrub I don't mean muscle it, but you can use soap and a MF mitt and wash good and none comes off.

Chrome caps were better, but ruined wheels, which was ok because I hated them anyhow.

Finally the upgrade, lived with plasti dip over 5 years, now even though they look ragitty, it still looks better then oem trash, but it would have looked better painted matte.
