Hey guys, I couldn't find anything on this in a search. Installed a catch can last night and just took the airbox out to shake out some leaves and stuff. The metal mesh filter which sits above (after) the paper filter has some staining from what looks like oil or grease. This mesh is built into the airbox lid and states "non-serviceable." Usually my reply would be, "wanna bet?" but thought I'd ask yall. Have you cleaned this?

Pic is attached but it looks dirtier in real life.

The paper filter I removed last Fall was pretty oily but the current one still looks brand new.

If that is a OEM Air Filter Box, for a 4th Generation Ram

You can completely remove the complete unit
Just take off the big hose clamp & slip the big hose off
Then detach the little hose

Then i believe that you can then jerk the whole air box up & out

I believe there is a YouTube Video
when the air filter box is removed, you can easily see the Rams frame & a hose valve that controls the coolant in the HVAC system

Sorry, maybe I wasn't very clear in my post. I just want to find out if there's an easy way to clean the built-in mesh filter that's inside the airbox. It's a metal mesh that sits right above the paper air filter when in use.

I'm sure you can clean it if you'd like with anything you want.

I removed mine.

Haven't heard of anyone cleaning it. Most people who mess with them just remove them.
