Just got a "service electronic throttle control" message while on my way to the store, which lasted not even 5 seconds before disappearing. The
warning message didn't return while on my way back home. I have a 2017 1500 sport with 43000 miles. I didn't notice any difference in performance or drivability. Anybody have any insight on what could possibly be going on? Thanks in advance for any input.

Do you have a pedal commander installed?

Still have the factory battery in it?

Could be starting to suffer from low system voltage. If you're seeing less than ~14VDC across the battery with a voltmeter, your battery may be on it's way out. I wouldn't think an alternator issue with such a new truck, but you never know.

I have no idea. To be honest, I'm not familiar with pedal commanders. Bought the truck used at Carmax with 28k miles. How would I know if one was installed?

Yes still original battery. I was thinking perhaps the battery might be going considering it's about 5 years old now. I know a dying battery can cause crazy things to happen. Will check into that. Thanks.

If you have one, it is installed in between gas pedal cable and a socket to which that cable is supposed to be connected. Look on YouTube for Pedal Commander install on RAM 1500. You can tell right away.

Did you ever figure this out? I have the same issue happening right now. It was happening every 3-4 months and now its weekly. Still no drivability issues.

My truck has almost 50k miles on it now, and the light never returned. I have no idea why it came on for about 5 seconds, then turned off and hasn't returned. How did you make out?

I pulled the Pedal Commander and cleared the codes. They came back with a vengeance. I now have P2121, P2122, P2127, P2135

My diesel has 2200 miles on it. The ETC warning stays on. The truck accelerates with touching the pedals.

Curious if any more came of this? my 2019 1500 Classic has been doing this a couple times each winter since I bought it brand new…not sure if it’s a hiccup during starting in cold weather or what…just happened again yesterday.

So... Did anyone have an official resolution on this? I have a 2014 Eco Diesel, I had a Pedal commander in there for a few years even after I did the Sofaking tune to get my performance back after the stupidazz EPA mandated tunes kill my performance. Anyhow, This same message started appearing and I have about 120k miles on and owned the truck 6yrs. The motor was replaced at 85k miles I think as it was new to the truck when I bought it. Anyhow, longer story longer, I found some videos where guys spent thousands on trying to fix this problem only to have an OBD scanner and just clear the codes. I've done this twice already and starting to be annoying and concerning. The vehicle is definitely laggy when that light comes on and stays on as an alert. After the first light, I pulled the pedal commander thinking it might be contributing to it but came back 500miles later. Its possible you other guys might be onto something with the aging battery and before running out to buy one, it'd be good to know if that was it or other solution. Once I clear that error message, the truck runs great again, albeit still semi crappy mileage so it could be that TPS needing to be replaced.

Pick up one of these and test your battery yourself.
