When including the protection group as part of the order, is that installed by the factory? Or is that something the dealer installs? Also, how many 'physical' plates are bolted on?

If it is part of the build on s order unit. It is factory installed. And I believe it is the front differential and transfer case.

I crawled under my truck yesterday trying to see how a plastic fastener works to install mud flaps. Those skid plates are not a joke. I don’t think I’d go looking to test them but they should provide good protection if you got somewhere you wish you hadn’t.

Look in to the tow mirror thread, on some trims the protection group is apparently different from what comes with the off road group. Tradesmen may not get the same plates it looks like? Best consult a dealer on that one.
