I have a 2011 hemi Ram short bed, 2 wheel drive with 5 speed and 392 posi in the rear. Truck ran 14.60 in quarter. Put K&N drop in filter, hd flowmaster 50 series muffler with 4 inch chamber, 3 inch inlet and outlet and Flash-pak tuner set at 93 performance tune. Truck now runs [email protected] mph and according to quarter jr it says now makes 440 hp at flywheel, 50hp up from stock. picked up 6 tenths in quarter seems about right for the horsepower increase. Truck has 120,000 miles and only repair in 11 years was a wheel speed sensor for around $25. Hp was figured using truck weight and quarter mile speed. Truck now shifts at 6,000 rpm stock was 5,600. Think the older trucks responded better without all the torgue management stuff. Hard to believe, but heard 5.7 responds good to minor mods. Had another hemi and a 4.7 in a 2005 and 2006 and did same mods to them. 4.7 used a Hypertech I believe a cortex tuner. Best 3 truks I ever owned and I had both Fords and Chevys.

You will gain nothing by spending money on a depreciating asset. If it ain't OEM it's a deduct at time of trade. If selling it outright, you gotta find somebody that likes that stuff. And your asking price will suffer as your truck stuff gives the impression that it's been rode hard and probably has hidden problems.
After 35 years in the retail automobile business, I've never seen this kind of thing bear any fruit except maybe a transmission failure or engine knock.
Not all of us are looking at the trucks as an "asset". Either it is a vehicle to do a job, or it is a hobby. We know that as soon as we put our name (and account details) on the documents at the dealer, the truck instantly lost a lot of value. We are here, on this forum, to get the most out of our "investment", and some of us want that to be the hard on we get when we use the Hemi fun pedal, some of us are trying to hit stupid levels of miles, to keep money in our pocket. IE I would rather spend an extra $8/oil change on good oil/filter, versus the cheap ****, to keep my V8 purring to 300k+, versus save the $8, and probably have to replace the engine at 150k (or sooner). My truck is 5 years old, about to hit 67k, and purrs like a lion. No evidence of a tick yet, and my only "significant" expenses (so far) are tires, and a catch can.

I bought a Rebel. I love the truck, but plan to run it into the ground, and probably then pull it back up. I've already decided the '18 Rebel will likely be my last "new" car for a LONG time (Because of what Toyota, BMW, and GM are pushing into the market).

I have a list of things I want to do. Not a damn one of them is based on any expectation of increasing Resale value, other than just keeping the truck in good shape.
Every damn one of them is based on making it *MY* truck. My house? 100% I plan to keep in mind how things affect the resale. My truck? Nope. Grandpa's '66 Mustang is the exception. As right now, it can only go up in value, unless I totally F something up on it. But the '18 Rebel will never have that kind of option. No one will want a mid 2010/2020 vehicle in 60 years.

My understanding is most vehicles could use a little bit of a tune, as the OEM's are trying to balance the EPA/Gov rules, with the JDPower COO math, and getting decent mileage, especially right now, where gas prices are insane.

Question is, WHAT kind of tune to go for for each person?

It would be nice (as an '18 owner) if they didn't make it so damn difficult to adjust things... (Don't quote me the '15 "hack" as a reason. It wouldn't take 3 YEARS to implement a fix, and they would have done it as a recall to ALL 4th gen (or equiv age) vehicles. They did the security **** to block guys like us from making adjustments to OUR vehicles to try and make us pay them for it.)
