Back in august my truck had an issue and died while I was out camping. Luckily had some friends with us that were able to get me out and back into cell reception for a tow truck. I was able to hook my scan tool up and it threw a code for a faulty crankshaft position sensor.

Decided to try there and replaced it. It seemed to work was driving down the road and lost power. Again I was able to hook the code reader up, once again it said the crankshaft position sensor was faulty.

Thought maybe I bought a bad part and so once again replaced the sensor. Drove the truck another 300 miles within just the last couple days and it failed again. I am at a loss on what to do any advice would be appreciated.

My truck is a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.7 hemi in it. I replaced the engine but there is a lot of miles on the rest of vehicle, 240k. When this acts up it throws a red light for check gauges and a red flashing lightning bolt. The part was not OEM and I am thinking about just replacing with a Mopar crankshaft position sensor but I’m not sure if that is going to work. I need this truck especially now that I’m in hunting season and don’t want it to fail but the local shops are weeks out, by then hunting season will be over
