Update
As reported in this forum the 1500 with acc and lane keep is now fully supported and a harness is available which is plug and play. Actual install and full programming is quick and easy. Panels to remove are very simple if done correctly. However the mount as instructed takes 48 hours to cure. This is day one of installation. Steering disconnects at 32 mph or lower. You need what's called a fork installed to run. Many are available other than from comma.ai. These non standard forks are reported to be much better than stock and will steer to zero mph. There are modes available with the stock fork that I have not figured out yet. Laneless that rides on snow covered roads. Again day 1 for me. Some say mounting angle and height are critical. My mount is not perfect and things seem to work but I'm requested to intervene frequently on back curvy roads, less to very infrequent on interstate. It may still be learning. Initial calibration distance until self driving took less than 1 mile. I plan to attach pictures after this post. There will be haters and lovers of this technology. I'm glad we have the freedom to express our opinions. I hope this helps those considering this product.

Mirror tap (15 bucks) for radar detector. Red and black works with ignition.

I use both lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control on highways with low to moderate traffic. Lane departure offers a small resistance to turning steering wheel when attempting to change lanes. Using turn signal enables lane change without resistive presence. A great teaching tool or reminder of safe driving practices.
I have the adaptive cruise control set for maximum distance (4 car lengths). System easily senses slower vehicles and adjusts speed. Works very well when in right lane as vehicles are merging. System doesn't race with merging vehicle to keep in front. System initiates a slow down within angle of sensor. When used in traffic with stoplights, system does bring truck to full stop. However, after light goes to green, the system does not accelerate the truck itself. I have to press accelerator to move forward, but truck will move quick trying to achieve previous speed setting. Using the plus/minus buttons on steering wheel to adjust cruise control speed settings.

Scenario not experienced yet: As truck is slowing down for vehicle in front at max distance, what is system response if another vehicle jumps in front of me.

Until you get familiar with acc, best to keep foot close to brake. I have found under some circumstances, best to hit brake to disengage acc and reengage with new setting.

Lastly, exercising the perpendicular and parallel parking assistant. Haven't gotten there yet. Mentioned to wife, I'm looking for two Mercedes to practice on and she has threatened to hide my beer.

Your truck behaves a little differently than mine when used in traffic with stoplights. I don't have to press the accelerator when the light turns green as long as the car in front of me accelerates. I've let the ACC do the speeding up and slowing down all on its own in light city driving to see if it would do that. It definitely accelerates more slowly than I would with the gas pedal, but it seems to work just fine.

Your scenario not experienced yet is my only complaint about ACC. If there is a gap and someone jumps in front, the truck slows down even more. The bigger the gap the more this can happen. It's pretty annoying so in heavy traffic I either keep the gap small or just don't use ACC at those times.

I'll retry the acceleration from a stop with acc. Maybe I didn't wait long enough before pressing gas pedal. Thanks for the feedback!

I have been using Comma for over 8000 miles now, and worked on testing with CastleHill and others (kudos to you all) on steer to zero, so have some experience. Point to remember is that this IS NOT self driving. But that scenario is in the works, albeit quite a while off. What this is, is an advanced lane sense and adaptive cruise control. It will change lanes for you when the signal is activated, it will slow for slower vehicles, and it will resume speed when they get out of the way, which is a control shared by the comma and the truck. A lot of the things as far as slowing and the like are controlled by the trucks ACC. The functions are only enhanced by comma, along with some tweaks and additions. When on the freeway I almost exclusively use the comma, and quite often in town driving. In highway driving, my hands are busy drinking coffee, eating, using the turn signal for lane changes, and waving in a friendly gesture to inconsiderate drivers.
The "TAKE THE WHEEL" warning is because of the trucks torque settings. High torque is only used for the self parking, and is not yet available at higher speeds to my knowledge. That may change in the future as tweaks advance. I have found that at slower speeds the comma does very well on the windiest of roads. Not perfect, but, we actually are still driving, not sleeping.
On another note, to my knowledge, unlike Tesla, comma has not hit any parked emergency vehicles (with emergency lights flashing), or jersey barriers.

I have a hard time waiting and just bump the gas.
Oh absolutely. The system is overly cautious in those situations. I don't usually use any form of cruise control in city traffic. I was just testing out the system at the time.

update. To date I have 51 drives. The comma 3 with the sunnypilot fork is really good. steer to zero. resume after stop no time limit, full steer any mode, example is steer with acc off or on. lane change, car distance actually time function operations. Manual intervention of steer is great and resumes immediately when manual steering torgue is removed. All inputs by autopilot and steering override are logically dispayed by colors on screen that you'll rarely look at. cons ,,, needs assistance on sharper curves non interstate roads. not perfect and will occasionally do strange things. need drive time (cummulative) for some features to become available . so far this is a great mod. comma 3 would not work with the openpilot experimental fork however this sunnypilot fork labeled beta c3 is very pleasing . more to come

also the standard cruise will not function with the comma 3 powered. I can't see this being an issue currently

Still wish the LKAS button could turn OP off when not desired, and allow us of ACC independently
