Hi Have bought 2011 Bighorn and when I downshift with console shifter it goes from D to 1st I then have to upshift to get to 5th . Any Idea ?

IN drive stopped ,I didn't check again while moving but will . If that is how it works its not mentioned in manual . Thanks randy

In my old 11 that I sold, I believe stopped it went to first to allow you to shift up and when in drive moving, it dropped to the next lowest gear. Ie 5 to 4, 4 to 3 etc.
I never remember it going from drive to 1 when moving.

In my 2014, which is also a 4th Gen, and with the 8-speed transmission and shifter mounted push buttons for manual shifting, the transmission shows whatever gear it is already in when I take it our of drive. I can then go either up or down.
If I'm stopped it goes to 1st, and at maybe 30mph or so it will probably show 4th, but it displays the gear the trans has chosen.
It has never gone directly to 1st just because I took it out of drive, unless I am stopped or moving at "driveway-slow" speed.

When stopped in drive, it should be in 1st gear. As you start moving, it or you, should upshift as speed and rpm increase.
When moving at speed, lets say 50mph, and you put it into manual it will show the gear you're in on the dash. Then you can downshift as needed, although the computer will override any major catastrophic rpm increases from downshifting. IE; it won't allow the trans to shift into 1st at 55mph.

I noticed on mine that it needs to be a full stop for a second or two before it downshifts to 1st and the RPM comes down a bit to about 550

This is normal had a 2011 for years It will go to whatever gear the trans is currently in.
