I'll take port over direct injection any day. 15% fuel economy is not worth the added complexity of DI IMO. The high pressure fuel pumps on many makes are known to leak into the crankcase essentially fuel diluting the oil. The injectors are stupid money and require special one use gaskets on some engines.

I'm sure there's power advantages with DI as well but IMO its just not worth the repair headaches as they age.

My point is that with dual injection you get the maximum fuel efficiency you can. Going with only a single injector in the cylinder gets only a little more during the lean burn phases, and soots the oil during rich burn.

It's a half a$$ design.

About 500. Same as years ago with the SS 5w30, just not as loud and sinister sounding

Even though Hemi is out of production now, I would still like to compare Amsoil SS vs. Red Line critical parameters:

Viscosity (typical, nominal @ 100C)
Moly Additive, ppm

We know Amsoil SS is PAO base oil, Red Line has more ester % in base oil.

i.e. - searching for what/why oil parameters keep tick away.

Our newer oil entrant, HP Lubricants, is similar to Amsoil SS, is PAO base oil, and UOA's have showed they have a ton of Moly additive akin to Red Line.

We're pretty sure we need a lot of Moly additive, and viscosity grade so far hasn't seemed to matter that much, so I'm wondering if the % ester is important? We know from tribology PAO is a better lubricant in shear than esters, but it has no metal wetting affinity, unlike esters.

I was looking the other day and you can still get the 5.7 Hemi in a 2024 Ram 1500 and I believe they are still building them for a few months yet.

2025 Ram 1500's switch over to the new to the new 3.0L T6 Hurricane (Standard Output or High Output 420 hp vs 540 hp).

I sure don't want to be the first one to buy one of those.

Canada must be different. There is no option to build and price a classic for 2024 just a Gen 5.

If you want the 5'7" bed you can get the 5.7 without the eTorque. If you want the 6'4" bed the eTorque is not an option.

I do not understand why the bed length would be the deciding factor on that.

I am impressed with the HP and Torque numbers on the Hurricane HO. Whether or not it is a good engine remains to be seen.

Yeah we're always different unfortunately. The USA appears to be getting the 4th gen yet this year, not sure about us though.

But going of the build and price is not indicative of anything either, Ram has the worst website in both US and Canada and it's often busted in one way or another. Offshore website devs of course, gotta save on that labour!

Agreed, the HO Huricane is pretty impressive power wise. I kinda want to drive one to see what it's like.

But with DI and turbos, it's going to require some expensive maintenance at some point. Even with the cam/lifter problems the Hemi is a more robust and reliable motor.

This never ceases to amaze me. I've driven my truck about 40 miles since putting RL 5w30 back in. It's already got that butter smooth idle again and is just overall quieter. Any form of tick that was developing on the drivers side is gone.

It's the nuclear option, wanna end a battle bust out a nuke.
It has everything no oil seams to have, or few at best.

Yep.
It's all about free market, or not so much anymore, nuke pricing.

Red Line / Phillips / Conoco or whatever they are now, goes through cycles of price gouging and sales that make us nutty.
