My '18 Rebel does NOT have memory seats/mirrors (yet). As it is something I want to explore eventually, and wanting to get Tow Mirrors, I'm looking at 2 options, one is the non-memory style, and one is the memory style. I would rather spend the extra $80 now, and get the memory supported, so when I eventually upgrade the rest of the required crap to memory, I don't have to upgrade the mirrors AGAIN. But I'm worried that the memory mirrors will either not plug into the "base" level connector/not function properly if I don't have the memory control system first.

(It is I think the Luxury Group, as I have power fold/power mirror/heated/auto-dimming, just not memory.)

The connector is the same. The memory function just won't work until you have the sales code turned on (flashed) in the PCM.

That I can't answer. I believe it can, but I'd have to let someone with experience chime in.

I guess what I should say, is I've SEEN the option, and tried to toggle it (I'm a programmer. I like to see what I can do, even if I know I shouldn't.), but it failed to "stick". So I wasn't sure if I was just being blocked by not having the hardware, or if it was Alfa having some issue, even with the bypass cable. - just for someone coming in later.

This is a quote from someone else on a different forum:

The wiring from the memory seats is totally different than the non memory seats

The position switches on the non-memory are high current switches that control the motors in the seat directly.

The position switches on the memory seats are MUX switches that talk to the BCM, and the BCM controls the seats

Hopefully you saved the original configuration files before “experimenting” with various options in Alfa.

I expect the seat change will be "some" work... But I was asking about the mirrors, as I'm also imposing a few extra issues on myself for the seat upgrade when I dig into it, as I have a Rebel, and would want to keep as much of the "look" of the seats the same. IE change the guts, but have the "facisa" be the Rebel.

But I was asking on this thread if not having the memory controller for the seats (yet) would cause me issues with getting memory mirrors, or if their "memory" function (at least the tilt in reverse/or even just basic mirror control) would still work on a non-memory truck.

Two years ago I replaced my standard power folding mirrors with non power folding tow mirrors. I had ordered Trail Ridge TR00042 in January which are power folding and installed them. I have no issues with them at all. I also activated the auto close function but it does not work. I also have the tilt in reverse function in the radio apps but when I try to activate it it toggles back off on its own.

That's the "cheaper" set I was looking at, but I also see the TR00068's, which are the "memory" version, which should enable the tilt in reverse.

The Auto Close is known to not work on the RAM's, unless you use a specific OBD2 dongle, that does it, but only when the dongle is left connected at all times. I forget who makes the dongle, or I would link it, but it's kinda like the Global Up on the windows. No one seems to actually know WHY it doesn't work, but no one can get the setting to stick, or function. (If you access the DOOR controller, the Global Up doesn't stick, I think the Body Computer shows it as sticking, but... It doesn't actually stay enabled for long/a shutdown.)

https://www.zautomotive.com/product/z_tzr_dt/#accessories - the dongle that will autofold your mirrors. Even the 5th gens can't autofold without this.

I have a 2015 Big Horn, with cloth heated seats, chrome mirrors, and I have actuated the tilt in reverse and passenger dimming mirror options on it with alpha obd no issues.I have now added heated/vented memory seats from a Laramie, so far activated the venting, but I haven't hooked up memory functions as I do not know which extra 4 wires to add in which pin outs from seat plug to door/dash for memory function. Would also like memory power pedals if anyone can help with that wiring too!

Unless you have the memory dash harness, I doubt you will be able to get it to work. I installed a 2016 dash harness, and while it does have the adjustable pedal connector, there is no memory wires in it. The 4 pin connector is there, but with only 2 pins. I checked the wire diagrams as well, and you'd have to repin the C2 connector under the seat, and run the pins all the way to the power pedal connector, plus change the power inputs.Screenshot (179).png

Sorry, I was replying to Rip. But, your memory mirrors will plug into the existing door module. I have the 6x9 memory, power folding, heated and auto-dimming mirrors, that I added, and the door module connectors are the same, the programming is different inside them. All features that the door module supports will work properly.

What do you mean the "6x9 memory"?

I have the folding/heated/dimming mirror already, just no memory (yet).

I've tried writing to the door controller from Alfa, and in my 2018, it says basically "I don't have permission", with the KAoDTech cable, so do I need/should I also find a different door controller?

The 6x9 are the non-tow mirror. what part number door module do you have? It has to end in either 102 or 103. Otherwise, it won't allow power folding or memory.

The other person's statement about the seat switch being a 'mux' switch is incorrect, with the exception of the mirror control. The seat switch directly feeds the memory module, which then passes the commands to the seat. And I did install memory mirrors on a non memory truck, and they work fine. Tilt in reverse works, but only on the driver's side, for some reason.
