Relative noob. I have a 2019 1500 Classic. I’m going to change the transmission pan and filter with Blauparts. They have one that comes with Eurol fluid and one that comes with RAVENOL. Looks like the RAVENOL is more expensive and provides less info. Does anyone have any opinions? I’m leaning toward the eurol.

I don't know either one but Ravenol is highly rated from what I read when I was searching.

Actual ZF fluid isn't really expensive either.

Holmes, you need to say what transmission you have, two very different answers depending on the transmission. RFE or 8 speed? 8 speeds like cheaper fluids, at the temps the 8 speed runs the higher quality fluids are too slippery. The exact opposite for the RFE. The truth about 8 speed fluids. Multi vehicle maxlife transmission fluid by far the most run oil on the board with no issues, unless you want to run official, zf8 fluid lifegard or Mopar. If you read that thread you will see no advantage to running other fluids, maxlife all the way. If you have an RFE redline c+ iS worth the squeeze, drop pan and change 8 quarts. If you have RFE let me know we have some great info on the process. There are two other options for RFE where you wont need a slippery pete pump, Valvoline bags or amsoil ss bags.

I just tried the maxlife and then did another drain and fill using ZF 8 speed fluid - the shifts are quicker and firmer using the ZF.
I was surprised in the difference in shifting between the 2 fluids.

These ZF transmissions require a specific fluid in them. I would not use anything other than the ZF 8 speed or Mopar 8-9 speed fluid or they will fail in a short time. Check out the PPE aluminum pan that has a replaceable filter in it, plus it holds more fluid and offers additional cooling. Here is a photo of the one I put on mine.

A lot of people use the Valvoline Maxlife with no problems - in fact, the dealer techs told me that Mopar has given them the green light to use it as the Mopar fluid is often backordered.

Hello all, I apologize for my lack of forum etiquette, as I am new to this. It is my understanding that Dodge trucks require ATF+ 4 transmission fluid. Is that a misconception?

Well it's been a couple hours on your question, probably fairly normal for a Saturday? Also, you asked your question in the 4th Gen area, mostly (2009-2018) Rams. Post your question in the 2nd Gen (1994-2002) area, you might get a quicker answer, maybe.
