Coming up on 200k miles, assumed the PO did it at 100k miles, he said it wasn't necessary since they're so durable. Is this true? and what happens if/when one of the chains take a dump, is it CEF (catastrophic engine failure) or just non-running, pull over, tow-to-shop, and then get it done?
I have a 3.7L v6 w 196k miles on it. Takes 5 quarts of 5w30
I buy the 20k oil but I change it every 10k or less.
It consumes 3 quarts every 10k miles.
At that rate of adding oil, should I even bother with oil changes since a new quart is coming in every 3k miles?
the door was partially open, the wind blew it all the way open hard. now there is no longer the slight gap between the front quarter panel and the door. when I open and close the door the scrapes the front panel, anyone experience this and was able to fix it?

2006 3.7 Regular Cab 6' bed, RWD
The RWD is the issue in bad weather since I don't keep anything heavy back there.
BUT
Is it possible (anything's possible but within a reasonable amount of work) to relocate the engine to the back right above the rear wheels, like on a 911?
I know Smyth used to...
pulled out a screw, stuck in a tire plug.
tire still has a slow (albeit much slower) leak.
I think I may have skrewed up, I don't supposed I can force a big plug through the smaller one?
oil consumption is now over a quart in just over a week. no oil spots after I park and no oil smell while driving, strangely there are some droplets splashed on the fan cover and bottom half of the intake, I touched the spots and they looked like and felt like they could have been very fresh oil
I may pull the trigger on getting a 2017 AWD charger w 150k miles on it.
How many miles is the engine & transmission on a V8 awd charger typically good for?
I'm in love with the simplicity (and reliability) of my 2006 RAM 1500 V6.
Thinking about getting a charger 4wd.
Is it the same simple design and ease of DIY?
(Perhaps not as easy to DIY as the RAM pickup but say compared to an Audi or Mustang)
I'm going to angle grinder off the rusted portion above the rear wheels.
Rather than having just plain cutout metal I was hoping to get one of those plastic arch covers that you see on the F150s, anyone know where I can get them?

Only happens if the rain is heavy.
Had the cowl cleaned, no difference, carefully inspected the door, seems solid.
Waited for the next rainstorm, cleared some space, watched the water start forming where the picture is circled.
Interestingly after the rain stopped and I opened the door, the door...
i like dodge because i find them easy to to diy
want to get a car for my kid but the kid struggles with large vehicles like pickups and suvs (parking, close quarters etc)
also i’d like to have a 4wd/awd for bad weather.
what is the smallest dodge out there w 4wd/awd?
Since i’m no longer hauling much of anything and think the deleted bed would look cool, aside from propping up the tail lights and filler neck, would this cause any other issues, for example not enough weight in the back (mines a rear wheel drive) etc.
Looked up some wobble kits, none made for rack & pinion models.
It comes and goes, usually within the first 30 minutes of driving then if I'm on a long trip it won't wobble for the rest of the drive. Lasts for about 15/20 minutes. Typically I can slow down or stop, then as I get back up to speed...
On the entry assist handle on the driver's side (pictured), there are two circles that look to be removable.
Today it was raining out and for the first time I noticed water dripping out of the bottom portion of the upper circle.
I drew an arrow right at the point of the water leak.
What's...
Went to pour seafoam in the crankcase to run the RAM for 30/40 mins before changing the oil and noticed the infamous milkshake on the cap and in the neck.
Coming from the world of 944s this is an Omen of doom, not sure what to make of this on the Ram.
Any insight?
A few weeks ago it was in the teens.
I pulled the hood cable from the inside in order to release the hood.
Did what I had to do under the hood and tried to close the hood back.
It just slammed and bounced back up from the latching mechanism.
I was able to manually move the latching mechanism but...
Trying to remove the bumper and I see this thing sticking out.
No thread no bolt nothing.
Doesn't look like it's welded on so I figure it should just slide out but it seems to be pretty tight.
Still waiting for the other bolts to soak in PB Blaster, just want to see what I'm in for ...
I leave the battery connected overnight (or any long period of time),
the next morning attempt to start it,
it won't start,
I disconnect the negative terminal,
leave it disconnected for a couple minutes,
reconnect the negative terminal,
truck starts.
No error codes, any ideas what this...
Every video I look up on changing the transmission fluid is showing a tray being removed and an external filter (similar to an oil filter) and an internal filter.
I went to the parts store yesterday and purchased the internal filter, came in a box.
They said they didn't have the external...
The RAM I recently acquired needed pads rotors and a fluid flush.
I did it all this weekend. The caliper frame bolts were tight and the caliper-to-caliperframe bolts were tight as well. Yet there was some play in the caliper within the caliper frame.
Is this because I pushed the pistons all...
Driver's side front panel.
Backing out of a driveway and scraped the post of a low chain link fence.
Felt like it's be only scratched paint until I looked at it.
Any chance to DIY it?
Was planning on using tire rack to order both wheels and tires at the same time.
I don't like the inconvenience of wheel spacers so I want to go with the widest possible wheel.
My main concern is price, tire rack is ok but is there any other place you know of that has better pricing?
I called the dealer about the various fluids in my 2006 Ram 1500 ST manual V6 Regular Cab RWD and cross checked it with the Advance Auto fluid spec sheet and the only thing I'm not able to map is the center differential and transfer case fluid.
The dealer says there's a center differential...
