The pic of the control arm; the shiny spot is from my old tires (285/60/20), the darker spot is from the new tires.
I decided on the Galaxy 979 because it fit the spot perfectly. I also have a 959 that I would have preferred, but it's 1/2-3/4" wider and wouldn't have sit as nicely in that spot.
Finished with the radio inside, but it started raining so I couldn't get the coax ran to the antenna. Maybe one day this week.
I'll need to run a ground from the antenna to the frame cause the tool boss is aluminum and it's sitting on a bed liner. Also, need to figure out how to get the...
Negative offset wheels would give you more clearance on the inside of the tire. However you have to be careful about too much offset as it can cause your tires to rub the fenders. I don't know what the happy medium is. Do some searching on this forum there has been a lot of talk about wheels...
I believe my 17s were either 8 or 9 wide.

That's crazy! I had a set of 315/70/17 on my 1500. They would rub a little on the UCA when at full lock. I was hoping to get at LEAST that size on my 2500...

I have a '67 Galaxie 500 that has a sticker on the inside fender that states 6,000 mile oil changes. Even in the 70s and 80s the 3,000 mile recommendation was a money thing, not a maintenance thing.
So, it was time for new tires/rims and I couldn't afford both at the same time. The tires I had were almost slick, so I needed to buy tires first. I was looking for the largest tire that would fit on stock rims and I came across this thread...
