I replaced the plenum gasket along with the intake gaskets and my problem seems to have gotten worse. Forgot to check the plugs but doesn't anyone else have any ideas what might be causing this? About to just give up cut my losses and sell the thing.

I tried to set my fuel timing buy following the information in the link below. After fallowing his directions exactly to a "T" it didn't seem to change a thing. With the volt meter connected to negative and number 3 pin on the camshaft sensor set it to like .2 volts. According to the guys link...
after I got rid of the cat and put a piece of pipe in it didn't change a thing its still popping really bad after it warms up and doesn't go away. any other ideas on what to check?
Ya the intake manifold from the old motor has oil sitting in it so I know that gasket was bad. The new used motor I put in it didnt have any in it. But If I keep this truck long I will replace it before long. I usually just buy a truck fix some stuff on it drive it for a bit and then sell it.
I'm guessing it its the factory cat and the old motor I pulled out of it had over 200k miles so I'm guessing that its got alot of carbon built up over the 15 years its been running. But ill try the sensor tomorrow just to be 100% sure its the cat. Thanks for all the help. And ill keep you guys...
so I let it warm up in my driveway and after it got to operating temp. I left it in park and it revved up to 3000 rpm just fine. I took it out and drove it and after a few minutes it started popping again. I drove it back home and put it back into park and it wouldn't rev up to 3000 rpm anymore...

im not a transmission expert but I would say that if its locking and unlocking around 45-60 it could be overdrive going out or your torque converter. Try shutting overdrive off on the end of the shifter and driving it. Will pull more RPM's at that speed but if it handles that speed without...

I found out its the crankshaft position sensor. the sensor goes through the bell housing on the passenger side of engine. it has a wire that goes and connects to that wire

Didn't figure it would be worth much. Transmission was just rebuilt I have a receipt for that. I'm just going to go to a junk yard and get an engine. Might replace all the gaskets before I put it in so its done.
