Stopped at a red light next to a Tacoma. We both stomped on it on green. I beat him up to 70mph, but never got past him being behind to about my rear door. Let off cause of a slower car that turned into the road.

Thought my little V6 would pulled a little better in him than it did.

No clue what year Taco it was, but it was newer. Didn’t notice any badges with a motor size, but didn’t really look either.

Tacoma's weighs roughly between 3900 and 4500 while a Ram quad cab is about 4900 to 5400 (according to google).....

Honestly a bigger weight difference than I thought and its probably the only reason it was able to hold up.

you weigh a lot more. as said above they still have a freakin plastic(composite) bed. Plus depending which motor it had they have decent hp for their weight.

Couple mods will make a nice little difference. I highly recommend the Pedal Commander. You can use code PC10 on our site for a discount!

Ever sat in a Taco? The sit like a car.

The local ti-yoder dealership always has at least 5 frames sitting around, to replace the ones that RUSTED OUT!

Fin, what rear end gears do you have?

Put it in a mid size truck and I'm sure it is.

In our 2015 Grand Cherokee that is 4800ish lbs w/ just Pedal Commander & K&N filter it is peppy & suprisingly light on its feet for a suv, not fast but not bad. The 3.6/8 speed GC runs 15.6-15.8 in the 1/4 mile. Thats great for a V6 suv considering my 04 rc Hemi ran a 15.3 stock.

The op has qc so thats heavier though. I have seen a few V6/8 speed tuned on Facebook & for what they are they are quick. A tune makes a huge difference

I know the Taco is way lighter. I was just messing around. I bought a truck cause 1) I am more comfortable in the seating position 2) while I don’t haul heavy stuff, I like to room. 3) fits more crap then a SUV and looks better.

Thank you for the V8 comment. I would have never thought of that. Very constructive. I do like my 23 mph I get with basically all town driving. Highly doubt a Hemi is getting that.

I have 3.55s.

What's great is our v6 rams have more room better payload and same mpg. I wouldn't have even thought of a v6 truck until I rented a grand Cherokee. It was fun on the interstate. Stomp and go.

That's better gas mileage than my nephews' (2 of them) Tacos get.

3.92s, would have left that dude in your dust, but 23 mpg, I wouldn't touch that truck!

I have a Pentastar in a Wrangler. I have a lot of respect for that engine.

Back in 2011-12, when the 3.7 V6 Mustangs came out, the V8 jerks poo poo-ed them. Then some of the V6 guys geared down some, tuned, headers, skinners up front and drag tires on back, and started pulling the front end off the ground. They posted times that got them called liars. Put a Pro Charger on that engine, and still get 31 mpg, and 393 rwhp. I have the Dyno sheet to prove it.

wife has a 15 V6 Taco. to me it feels sluggish. Of course, I haven't driven anything with less than 8 cylinders in probably a decade.

best part of the OP's story is the Taco owner is going to go tell the story how he pulled on a Hemi Ram.

Wonder what gearing the taco had and if it was tuned.

Didnt take long before that typical comment came along. The V6/8 speed is a impressive for what it is. Tune them & they really come alive

IIRC, the Pentastar was designed so that a turbo option could be easily added during production!
