Did you add preventative?

I never plugged in my diesel (when I had it). Just added the Power Service Diesel Fuel white bottle and it was good to go.

I plug in when it's in the teens or lower, I am using a smart switch so it turns on when I schedule it.
I try to give it 3 hours before I plan on starting.
The truck will start without being plugged in, it is just easier on it to preheat,
plus it puts out heat for me much faster.
I add the white bottle power service also at the heavy dose rate.
I haven't gelled up in 10 or 15 years in tractors or trucks, if it is calling for sub zero the tractors
also get a good shot of kerosene, I have to sign when I get the kerosene that it is only for non-highway use. :33:

Well stupid me didn’t put in additive . I think that will cure the problem. I ordered a plug and will just plug in on cold ones. Thanks

We were at -22F Wed morning and -17F yesterday morning. I tried starting my truck Wed morning and the thing managed to start (the block heater had been plugged in all night), but that was about it. It sounded like gravel in a cement mixer tub and was stinking like kerosene. About 10 min of idle and it threw a CEL, I limped it to the dealership (it wouldn't go much above 45mph) and they told me it was a turbo temp code. They cleared it and the thing ran ok after that.

Yesterday morning, I shoved a salamander LP heater up underneath that front of the truck and let it run for an hour...it started and ran fine after that.

As for the block heater, I wasn'ta huge fan of just leaving the cord hanging, so I installed a quick connect in one of the plastic inserts on the bumper:

EDIT...here's the insert I used if you're interested:

The hardest part of the whole damn thing was plugging the actual heater cord into the block...that sucked.
