I'm planning on doing an in-frame, re-ring, re-cam, headers and a wide open dual with crossover exhaust flowing through flow masters. It looks like downstream anti-foulers are the way around gutted cats. It's got 160,000 on it and is tired. Except for great oil pressure. Don't plan or changing out the mains, just the rod bearings. It was run hard back in its day. Low compression on 5 and 6. 70-75 psi. about 110 on the rest. It's got a Dead miss. Huffing from the tail pipe. FFFFTTTTTT. FFFFFTTTTT. Engine light that codes out misfire. Some reading on these, this is my first 5.9, I built the crap out of a police issue 318 years ago. It came in a detective style Coronet and had a factory cast four barrel intake and a fat thermoquad atop that. It was called a 1M318. Stock. It made a helluva small block. I digress. Some reading on these 5.9's talks about weak heads that can crack. So I'm looking at replacing both heads if they prove cracked. I really don't see the point in spending on a leak down tester when I plan on re-ringing anyway. When I built the 318, I didn't have internet. Just the Mopar Bible. I put a 270-270 comp cams cam in it. Don't remember lift. Didn't know any better. It loped pretty hard. I'm looking at a 268-268 with a .454-.454 lift. The headers I'm looking at are H**ker shorties that are rated at 0-4500 rpm. I really want the cam to match the headers. If I'm off with the 268 duration .454 lift, input is appreciated. It's not a race truck. Can't compete with the Hemi's anyway. The heads suck. They are 318 heads. If I had stupid money I would like to do better with the heads. Just not in my financial reality. I want it to pull a fairly heavy boat with and maybe a cabover camper at some point. And I want it to sound very healthy without the cheap blap blap these kids and their daddy's money Z 71's around here annoy us with. After the engine is made healthy again, I need to put a dash in it. Mine is cracked all to pieces. Forums have been invaluable to me through the years. I hope this one is too. Thanks in advance. Kevin
