I was given a broken 2003 Ram 1500, and after a bit of looking, it had dropped a seat in the pass. head.
So after a trip to the junk yard, I had it running fine, although a bit rough.
So while preparing this thing for a emissions inspection, I found a cracked boot for what I assume to be the pcv hose that goes on the back of the intake.
So after replacing that boot, I **** you not, this thing starts barely idling and blows white smoke out the exhaust as if the headgasket went.
After I disconnect the pcv hose, it idles fine, and after a short drive, the white smoke clears.
If I then cover the line with my thumb to stop the vacuum, it almost dies at idle again and the white smoke resumes.
Does anyone know what the hells going on? I'm going to try another crank on the head bolts for the replaced head tomorrow, but this just makes no damn sense to me...
