Hi guys im from italy and i have a problem with my AWD on my 04 ram 1500 hemi, here in italy these system is very rare and it's hard to find someone who knows how to work with it,so i try to ask at the USA expert.

(sorry for my english)

I had the transfercase (model 244d , AWD-4HI-4LO) overhauled and when it was delivered to me, the ram braked when turning and the inside wheel slipped, the problem was the fork system that was mounted badly, and one fork was bent, assembled correctly and straightened the fork now it work great but not always, sometime I still find the ram braked when taking a tight corner on asphalt, randomly, maybe it goes for two weeks and then it blocks, sometime after 2 days, sometime after 4 week, always in the city on dry asphalt.
I also changed the motor that switch AWD-4HI-4LO but the problem remains.

my question is:

this morning it worked fine, I tried to put the 4HI in a parking lot, you can hear the noise of the motor, the 4WD light on the dashboard comes on but the ram turns without problems, not braked even on dry asphalt, is this normal? Shouldn't it be braked on tight corner in 4HI?
because in this case it would mean that the 4HI are not really engaged, the 4LO instead work.
We also rebuilt the rear differential, new clutches etc but nothing changed.
could the problem still be the fork?

Is there an exploded view of this 244D transfercase to see if there are any missing pieces or if there is something that is still assembled incorrectly?

I hope I explained the problem well

Apologies, I am not familiar with this transfer case, but I am confused your use of the word "braked". Do you mean the brakes engage or do you mean that something is broken?

yes sorry my english is not very good....
no the brake its fine,is like when you engage the 4x4 and you try to make a tight turn (on dry aspalt) with the steering wheel all the way turned, you feel the car tending to brake and the outside tire slip, but the switch is on AWD mode all the time so he shouldn't do it, it's like he's engaging 4hi himself

Understood.

So it sounds like the front wheels are skipping across the pavement when you're turning, and yes, that is what it will do if you are in 4wd. From what I have read, this transfer case is all wheel drive, but I am not sure if it selectable between 4wd and AWD. If it is selectable, then it sounds like your center differential is not shifting and is only going into 4wd.

yes correct, its all wheel drive and i can select AWD-4HI-4LO,yes i think the forksystem that move the mechanism doesn't work properly.
because also when i try to put in 4hi it doesn't work i think.

Ok, so how is it shifted? Is it by electronic solenoid? Or is it vacuum operated?
