my transmission is acting funny, it doesnt really seem like the transmission needs to be rebuilt or anything, and maybe I'm wrong, but what its doing is when I let off the gas from accelerating, the transmission downs almost right away, either downshifts or takes out of OD?? and the rpm's spike, sometimes its a little more violent than it should be...any idea whats going on with this?? i changed the fluid and filters hoping that would do something and no change...I also plugged in one of those TCM tricker resistors that raise the pressure in the transmission to see if that would do anything, at first it seemed like it helped, but its back to doing the same thing...any help is appreciated!! truck has almost 190k miles

Just to clarify, are you saying that after accelerating you let off of the throttle pedal and the transmission will downshift or go into a neutral-like state?

Is the check engine light on? Has is been on recently or for extended periods of time?

check engine light stays on in this old truck lol, but its not transmission codes, egr ...and the transmission doesnt downshift into neutral, it downshifts into the next gear down, revving up the engine in the process...and it shouldnt...and it does it pretty much right when I let off the throttle pedal yes

If the transmission is downshifting each time you let off of the accelerator pedal then getting a scan tool connected to this truck is the only thing that is going to help. I would look at the trans data to see what is actually happening when the TPS is decreasing in percentage. There is something that is commanding the TCM to downshift when you back out of the throttle and a scan tool is the only way to see it.
