The first one or two times that my transmission shifts after the truck has sat for three or four hours or overnight it slips. I’m also noticing that the engine over revs between first and second. Other than that operation is fine, but it seems the one to upshift is a little clunky. Is anybody else having this problem? If this is already a threat I’m sorry I couldn’t find it.

I have a 2016 Ram 1500 5.7 8 speed. My truck does that every day when the transmission is cold. After that initial take off it runs smoothly.

That's normal. There are a ton of posts about it on here. I have the same thing in my 18.
I believe it's the transmission going through a quick learn kinda cycle. If I'm wrong, someone will correct me here shortly.

I’ve been letting my truck idle at startup a little longer with the ac off to aid in warmup and have noticed my truck does the one two shift a lot smoother and hardly notice any slip or rev between gears anymore.

Its normal. Warm up the truck for 3mor 4min and drive with ease the first few miles. Once the trans temp is warm, the 8spd is buttery smooth.
