Well…I was dead set on the Toyo AT II in 275/65/20…had an OTD price of $1375 from a local dealer.

Then I found these:

Amazon.com: BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO Competition Tire - 275/65R20 126R E1: Automotive

$1180 to my door (free Amazon prime shipping too). Even if I had to drop $100 getting the things installed, I'm still cheaper than the Toyo and I know the BFG is a good tire.

To add to that I get points on my Amazon card and its a great deal.

So…what do you guys think? I live in the city, central Illinois. Mostly road driving with limited light off road and the obvious snow driving. I've read the Toyo is a good snow tire for an all season and have read mixed reviews on the BFG…

Any thoughts? I'm ready to roll on these and need to make a decision...

Don't get the BFGs! "Size: LT275/65R20 - Not Rated For Severe Snow"

What this translates to "These tires are rock hard and f*cking suck in the snow"
Personal experience.

Yeah…thanks for that…I noticed there are a few sizes that have that rating.

I've been reading since I posted this and still think I'm sticking with the Toyo. I was 100% on them until I found that deal on the KO…but I think I made the right decision in the first place. Now…to go get a damn check for $1400 to replace band new tires. It burns my ass to have to do that...

I hear ya. I still haven't done it. I'm going to wear these baby tires of mine down a way before I get new ones.

Support your local tire shop. Religiously! It will pay off if you ever have trouble 30 minutes AFTER they close on a Saturday or if your wife has trouble before going out of town. The difference in the price isn't enough for me to even bother with the transporting of the tires etc. Keep your money local. The tire shop I use has helped us out alot and they give a really good price. Plus the owner is on my sons' school board.

Yeah...the more I chew on it, the better the chance I'll run the stockers all summer then replace them around Oct. It stinks Dodge puts a passenger tire on a full size pickup truck. I guess I won't attempt any light mudding fun this summer then.

I bought my truck in Feb and we had a snow storm that day, then a whopper 3 days later. Those tires were horrible. I slapped it in 4WD and made it home but they were pretty lousy in a 8"+ storm. (and yes, I know how to drive in snow..LOL).

Figuring I can't get any $$ of the stockers, I might as well beat on them this summer then replace them.

Yeah...the turn-key toyo quote is from a great local shop that's literally 5min from my home, I've dealt with them for years and they've always done a good job. I'll go with them...

I've never had bfg's but was looking at them in a 285. They suck that bad? Like stuck in 4wd bad, or doesn't move in 2wd bad?

285/xx/xx what? That size will make all the difference...

If you go to tire rack and look at the actual specs of the tires, some will note "not rated for severe snow"...and these suck (and I believe a major reason why many bash the KO without knowing). Once I saw that on the 275/65 were that way (and WhiteExpress pointed it out), I dropped the idea.

My company has a F250 with the "not rated" KO's on it and that damn thing is useless in snow/ice...horrible even, very little traction. In any other setting, its great (save the soup...few AT does well in the soup).

I was looking at the 285 65 20's. seems strange that the size could make that much difference… same tread pattern and compound. interesting…

I'm not sure why either...the 275/65/20 is the only 20" that's not rated for snow...

I would like to know the difference between the tires...there has got to be something different...

That price seems high for the Toyos, but I'm all for supporting local shops but if you're going with Amazon, well than I would shop around better...
