I discovered this week that I cannot park at our airport. The clearance pipe hits right at the top of the windshield, and I'm bone stock

With the towing mirrors I can't fit my 1500 in a standard size parking space and get the doors open, I double park everywhere I go.

This happened at DFW airport Dallas TX. f3572a999aee5faa9afa1fc1ade1829a.jpg0540a4ef18613b1b7144317f5f84e6c9.jpg67ba716af107b72b606ad0aa85ca48f9.jpgee9fe6096e218b13ca0f29008ca44b72.jpg
Bone stock. Tires 10 psi under inflated. Don’t use the tip of your antenna for a guide either

Trucks seem to get bigger with each successive generation, but parking structures remain the same size. You'd think manufacturers would have caught on to this concept by now.

I ain’t got no parking structures where I live. Unless a tree counts :bleh:

My local Sheetz has an excellent automatic car wash... I'm about 3 inches from not being able to fit in there, and I'm not 4x4 or lifted... just sitting on 33's.

Yeah. He is right about the actual specs posted though. I have seen those on Ram’s site as well. But it can’t be right. Or it is not measuring the actual overall heights and refers to something we are missing. The day I picked up my 2500 completely bone stock it was a couple inches taller than my Bilstein leveled 1500 parked side by side. Wish I had a pic.

I think the gasser 2500s are also a little taller than the Cummins ones from the factory. And I believe all 3500s are a little taller than the 2500s. I think Don wrote about this on Thuren's website.

Just this weekend I brought a 2500 with a 4" lift home to test my 7' garage and it fit. I currently have 1500 with a 4" lift (both have 20" tires and 35" tires). I was pretty happy with the fact that they don't have the big satellite radio/GPS fin on it like the 1500 roof. They have a more flat oval on the front of the top of the cab. The length was a little longer, but it fit nicely.

I park downtown SLC Utah with my Ram 2500 G56 Manual in a parking garage that has a bar that says 6'8" (Truck has 2" level kit & 34.5" tires). The bar slides across the roof and the antenna hits every pipe in the structure. I put adhesive trim along the top of the roof for the PVC bar to slide across but I lift it over the clearance lights and Sirius antenna every time I pass through. I got out and looked at every low spot the first time I went through the garage but now I fly through it without care. Eventually I'm sure my antenna will wear down from all of the rubbing but it can be replaced. I back into every spot and get as close to pillars as I can on the passenger side for extra room. Use the tow mirrors and camera to back in in one shot every time. It requires more mental awareness than a car so it may not be for everyone but I enjoy it for the most part. Stop and go sucks either way with or without a manual. I get 15.6 mpg mixed doing this 40 mile daily commute.

I had to hacksaw my antenna an inch or two to not hit my garage door. It comes right off and has not really impacted my local stations that I can tell.

Single cab long bed here, and I'll echo the parking thing. I use a tug boat...

Mine's a CC 4x4 Short Bed and won't clear a parking garage under 7 feet. Might be the Off-Road package, dunno. Even those if anything's hanging the antenna sometimes tags it, and I think I've given one of my clearance light covers a minor rub at one point. And some garages have stupid-narrow turns (2-way, yeah right). So definitely 2nd the be sure mindset.

One here in Santa Maria is barely over 7 feet, I love freaking my wife out going through that one in the truck. :D But most in Santa Barbara won't fit it, a lot of those are 6'6"/6'8" clearances. If I get a level/lift done I'll just start assuming I won't fit in any.

Parking garages are the only problems, 2500 is no wider than the 1500 and If you back in length unless a long bed wont make much of a difference.

I know everybody says the 1500 and 2500 are about the same length. And some are. But I’m pretty sure the front suspension on the hd doesn’t give it quite the sharp turning radius the 1500 has. If I remember right. I could wheel my 1500 quad cab 6.7bed into some tight spots. I don’t feel like my 2500 turns as sharp. Although it don’t bother me one bit.
