Assuming the same year, is a 2500 short bed the same length as the 76.3" bed of a 1500?

Basically there is a killer deal on a shell that's on a short bed 2500 and I'm wondering if it will fit my crew cab 1500 with the 76.3" bed

My understanding is the 6 1/2 ft box’s are the same. 1500 long bed=2500 short bed.

Depends if the 1500 is a quad cab or a crew cab. The quads have 6'4" beds, but the crew cabs have a 5'8" bed. The 2500 crew cabs have 6'4" beds.

I did run into a guy local to me who said his 1500 crew cab had a 6'4" bed because it came from Canada.

Nothing to do with it coming from Canada just how it was built.

Starting in 2013 I think the 1500 Crew Cab became available with the 6.4 bed but standard is the 5.7 bed. Quad cabs have always had the 6.4 bed. Is still just a matter of how the truck is ordered.

To answer your initial question the beds are the same, either 5'7", 6'4" or 8'. The truck model does not matter (1500, 2500, 3500), nor does it matter if the bed has the Ramboxes. Not that you would put a topper on a Rambox bed, just saying that the length and width is the same.

The back slope of the cab is different between quad cabs and crew cabs. Quad cabs are more straight up and down so a crew cab topper will not fit without hitting the back of the cab in most cases. A quad cab topper fits crew cabs but you will have a wider gap at the top than the bottom.

And they are like some sort of unicorn. Probably second in rarity only to a regular cab long bed.

There is actually a 1500 crew cab long bed running around my hometown......Im jealous!

I have a 1500 crew long bed. It came from Canada. Haha I guess that's why I was unsure. I work with a guy with a rebel and I always thought my bed was longer but wasn't sure if I was just imagining it.

Makes sense now. Thanks for the input

Yep. I looked for months and only came across three. Landed this one. It was a fleet vehicle for Enterprise Rental in Canada. 58ca887b01033f009ce1e2b7ae350ed7.jpg

Visually the easiest way to tell is the space right in front of the rear tires.

On the 1/2 crew 6'4" bed is a longbed. Truck has a 9" longer wheelbase. Ihave one. It was hard to find in a limited. When I was looking all the dealers were trying to sell me the same 2 trucks and both were 1000+kms away

Are you guys calling a 6’-4” bed a “long bed”? 8’ beds are always referred to as long beds.
I think they are talking in reference to the Crew Cab. With that cab the bed is only available in the 5'7" or 6'4" beds. So essentially the 6'4" is the long bed with the Crew Cab. The Quad Cab was only available with the 6'4" and the single cab has the 6'4" and the 8' bed option. (1500 models) HDs had either 6-4 or 8.

I have a crew cab with the 6' 4" box. Yes, they are hard to find. I also put a topper on it from a quad cab. I can live with the slight gap. I got a screaming deal on the topper.

Don't get caught up on the "long bed"-"short bed" terms. Just measure the bed. I just went through this myself when I sold my Undercover tonneau for my Ram 2500 with the 6' 4" bed. I got a hundred calls from Ram 1500 owners with Crewcabs and the 5' 8" bed. 1500 Crewcabs with the 6' 4" bed are pretty rare.

Love my 6’4 Crew. They definitely are rare, I’ve yet to see another in person.

I from Nova Scotia, Canada. The 6'4" box isn't as common but still easy to find up here.... Just picked up a big horn black with the 6' 4" box to replace my 14......love it with the 8sp and 3.92.be5ed1df3f122d99f42da765c4ac0078.jpg
